It wasn't long before night fell on the cruise ship, leaving passengers to either head to their rooms or be left to party on the deck. Duni and his friends, for one, stayed in their rooms. While majority of them were getting ready for bed, Duni was busy pulling out an ancient VCR from his bag and trying to figure out how to hook it up to the TV — something no normal human would ever think to do in their entire life because it probably isn't even possible. Dashlie wondered aloud in her own room why Duni wouldn't get Netflix on his iPad and download movies to watch later like a normal person. Both Richard and Don were crestfallen that they couldn't have brought their Xbox or PlayStation if Duni was able to bring a whole-ass VCR. Luckily, though, Don had brought his Nintendo Switch, so now Don and Dick could fight, very loudly, over who got to play it.
After a while of watching Duni struggle with basic electronic fundamentals, DDawn gave up on ignoring the poor guy and set aside his book, shooing the younger man away so he could show how superior he was. Duni let him do so gladly, instead skipping over to the door that had been knocked upon approximately only five seconds ago. "Did you order room service, DDawn?" questioned Duni.
"No," grunted DDawn, and Duni hummed, opening the door.
When he saw no one was there, the first thing that came to his mind was that a bunch of kids had probably gone by, knocking on every door before turning the corner to disappear. However, it didn't seem anyone else had gone to investigate outside their rooms like he had.
Duni huffed and moved back to close the door, but that was when he spotted something very intriguing. Right before him, placed ever so carefully on the floor of the carpeted hallway, was a VHS tape. Instead of questioning the fact someone delivered a VHS tape to his door right as he was setting up a VCR despite the fact no one else would be so odd as to do something like that, Duni dismissed it as a kind passenger of the cruise gifting him with something to watch.
He picked up the VHS tape to inspect it closely, shutting the door and entering the room. It looked as if this movie had been made in the late 80's or early 90's just based off of the VHS case cover. A large medallion took up the center of the page, four crystals — one red, one blue, one green, and one yellow — seemingly embedded in its golden surface. It shone, lighting up the five characters in the foreground as well as the silhouettes of five monsters in the background. In big, horror-font letters, the name of the movie read THE CURSE OF THE MONSTER MEDALLION. Ooh, a fantasy horror movie! thought Duni as he approached DDawn. I loved these types of movies as a kid! Still do.
"Hey, DDawn, look what someone delivered to our door!" cheered Duni, and DDawn looked up to the VHS tape the younger man held in his hands.
"You just... brought that in here, huh?" noted DDawn. Before Duni had a chance to ask what he meant, DDawn continued: "If someone delivered you a bomb with a cute red bow on top of it, would you take it? You don't know where that has been." DDawn scowled at Duni. "Put it back where you found it."
"But—!"
"Now, young man. Don't make me tell you again."
Duni pursed his lips defiantly. He was about to argue back with DDawn, but he heard snickering coming from behind him. Dashlie was watching from her door. "You two sound like a parent and child arguing," she said. Duni held up his VHS tape as DDawn finished on the VCR.
"Wanna watch a movie, Dashlie?" Duni exclaimed.
"I just said—" started DDawn, but Dashlie shrugged as everyone ignored him.
"Sure, why not?" she said, heading over to Don and Richard's room, banging on the door to disturb them. "HEY! YOU TWO! STOP MAKING OUT FOR ONCE AND OPEN THE DOOR!"
