Alice
"Ali, you need to wake up. We need to be leaving for the Picnic in an hour." A hushed voice spoke to me.
I opened my eyes slowly, I was greeted with the face of Kathryn. I had forgotten that she arrived yesterday. She arrived later than planned, her mother made her help send out indentations to the ball they are hosting. Kathryn was a beautiful young mind, she was one for caring about others before herself. Men will cat call her on the street, and she will look to me and wonder why they did it. I'll tell you why, Kathryn is a stunning women, she brings a bright ora with her where ever she goes. Beautiful blonde hair, and her blue eyes were nothing like mine. Hers were crystal clear, and she had such a way with looking at you with them. People say she has the most perfect face shape, and I agree. Not too much chin, not too much forehead. Kathryn was perfect. She did as she was told, she was loved and included. She broke the rules, but not like I did. Kathryn broke the rules to make the new ones, I told her to break so many rules so I could have new ones. But it never happened because my mother was traditional, she didn't like change.
"Beatrice is making breakfast, I will lay your dress out for you." Kathryn pulled me out of bed like the caring soul she was. She put her hands to both my cheeks. My eyes were half way open, but she still smiled. I don't think I had ever been this tired. "Oh goodness me, Ali wake up!" She exclaimed.
"I am up, I am literally standing up right now." I said with a crocky voice.
"Well you better behave at this picnic, or else Mr. Oliver will not want you." The mention of Sam's name perked me in a way I never knew possible. I looked down at myself, I was a mess and I was hungry.
"What are we doing just standing around here, get everything ready. I cannot be late." My bossy side began to shine, and I quickly rushed out the door.
Down the stairs and to the dinning room. I was greeted with my brothers smile. He stood up and walked over to me. He was dressed all fancy, and his hair was neatly done. I was still in my night-gown, and my hair was still in curlers. No one can see me like this. Thomas walked me over to my seat, and pulled the chair out for me.
"Thank you Thomas, I have no time to chat. I must eat and get ready, I will not be late to the picnic." I explained grabbing a plate and stuffing muffins and fruits on it.
"Well okay then, I will go get the carriage ready. Don't take to long to eat, I know who long it takes you to get dressed."
I rolled my eyes and began to stuff my face with the delicious food. The muffins tasted like sunshine in my mouth. Strawberries and chocolate was one of my favorite combinations. The fruits were ever so delightful, Blueberries popped in my mouth, and fresh raspberries filled my mouth with joy. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the food as long as I could. It might have been the best meal I have eaten.
Beatrice walked in, she had a small blush to her. She was smiling, and when she saw me she smiled more. I think she was just pleased to see me awake, I think I really over slept today. But that is not my fault, that is everyone else fault for not waking me up. If my mom knew about this, my head would be on a platter and she would feeding it to pigs. I am not joking. My mother would be yelling her tongue off at me, she would probably banish me from the picnic. That is how mad she would be.
I took another long bite of my food, my eyes were closed again and I was just enjoying the moment. All until Mr. Alton walked in. Then the most embarrassing thing happened to me. Imagine this, a girl stuffing her mouth with food and enjoying it very pridefully. Then a handsome and arrogant man walks in and sees the girl doing this. That is very embarrassing.
