NINETEEN

2 WEEKS LATER. . .

"Evening, One. You finally made it." Nine formed a smile towards my direction as I just entered the room.

It had been a while since I was called by this codename yet I still felt uncomfortable hearing it, but I returned a small wave and joined the rest of the team that had gathered around the table. To my right stood Eight who made a smirk as usual and Five to my left, who was blushing hard. I heard he had finally recovered and was currently adjusting with everything but I realized I was not the one Eight was smirking at but Five.

What's with these two. . .

I shook my head lightly and saw Three lay his tablet on the table. The screen emitted a blue ray of light transmitting into a hologram.

The doors slid open again, making me turn around to see the last one to enter and had his eyes lock on mine in an instant. Heat rose in my cheeks; I quickly looked away and fixed my gaze on the bright light. After weeks of simulation and training, everyone had been occupied in finding evidences and investigating on KAIROS. I had completely forgotten about the last time we talked. That was in my room, and without any doubt the longing I felt to be alone with him again became stronger.

Nine set his hands on the table. "It's been a while since our team had a meeting like this, although it's sad to see we're incomplete." He sighed. "Let us wait for a few minutes before Raske calls us. I'm sure he is not done yet with Phantom Beta." He cleared his throat. "One, did you finally receive your class?"

"Not yet." I kept my eyes down. "They had trouble finalizing it. 45 percent Infinite, 32 percent Architect, 23 percent Specter."

"That was close!" Three snorted. "You better be careful Nine."

Eight let out an amused laugh. I sneaked a glance to see Enzo crossing his arms over his chest, the side of his mouth twitching for a second. Nine shook his head with a smile while waving his hand off before Three. "Her results aren't out yet so I still have time to relax. Anyhow, I think Raske's making a call, be ready."

The room went silent. As soon as Nine pressed the answer button, the blond man's chiseled face emerged from the hologram.

"Good evening, Alpha. Are you all in here?"

"Yes, Sergeant," Nine responded.

"Good. The Intel has just covered the trackings of where the Blue Wings is currently resided, but it's unfortunate that they have completely left Olympia as they recently moved in Venice."

Venice. The place sent my heart pounding, my eyes glancing up sideways to see Enzo not making a reaction to the slightest bit. I looked back down, trying to think of anything else to calm my nerves. It's coincidence if they chose to retreat in Italy, but why Venice? Why not somewhere else?

"Venice is a peaceful city," Nine noted. "It is highly reasonable for KAIROS to get the tension off the air."

"You are correct, Nine. That is what they are known for, anyway. Running away like cowards. In the meantime, I advise you to stand your guard and wait for further announcement. I have just received confirmation from Dr. Park about the serum Operative One handed to me."

Right, it's been a while since I remembered about that. I looked up at the screen. Raske was now holding a syringe in hand while sliding a window into the main screen.
