Katara's POV
Aang loaded the bison with our things, and we headed off.
I could tell he was nervous to go back to the south, but I had reassured him many times we wouldn't be caught. And even if we were, I figured our bending would be enough to get us free.
As Appa carried us through the cold air, there was silence. I knew he wasn't in love with the idea, but I didn't think he would be as quiet as he was. I stared at him, he sat crisscrossed on Appa's neck. "Aang?" I said softly. I crawled up to where he was seated and placed a hand on his shoulder. He stiffened, and let out a huge sigh. "I'm ok Katara," He mumbled. "You don't have to sit here with me." I stayed put, shuffling around so I could sit next to him. He put an arm around my shoulder and I nuzzled myself closer to him.
The rest of the trip was quiet. We sat there together, enjoying one another's company. Not too long after the sun went down, I could feel the air begin to chill. The wind picked up. Suddenly the ground below us was white and lush with snow. I headed back to Appa's saddle, and rummaged through our bags for warmer clothes. Aang brought Appa down by the cave he used to stay at. The bison groaned as he trudged into the small cave. "I know, I know, buddy," Aang said as he lead him towards the back of the cave. "But we're gonna be here for a while." I hopped off of Appa's back and handed Aang his clothes. It was strange to see him in water tribe garments, but he looked handsome as always. "Well?" He questioned as I looked him up and down.
I smiled at him and chuckled. "You look very nice, Mr. Avatar." His face dropped slightly at my comment. "Aang, I-" I began but but he cut me off. "It's ok Katara. I guess I have to get used to it."
Aang's POV
The Water Tribe clothing was thick and warm. It was very much different from what the Air Nomads wore, but cozy none the less. We weren't too far from the palace and It made me antsy. We had just run away from this place, and now here we were, 200 yards away from it. I had faith in Katara, but her fathers persistence on finding us was still stressing me out.
The cave was colder than usual, and I could barely start a fire with the wind blowing harshly outside. Katara tried her best to cook us a meal but the most she could heat up was some rice. I didn't mind though, with the situation at hand I had other things on my mind. We huddled close to the fire and ate quietly. I could tell she was itching to say something, but she stayed silent. Her cheeks were flushed pale pink, and she was shivering from the cold. I grabbed a blanked from Appa's saddle and sat down next to her, carefully wrapping her in the fleece. "T-thanks.." she stuttered. She seemed to shake with every breath she took. I pulled her into my lap and wrapped my arms around her. "Do you have a plan for tomorrow?" I whispered to her. She giggled and shook her head. "Nope!" She smirked. "We're gonna wing it."
"Katara, come on. I'm not doing this if you don't have a plan." She looked at me and gave me a reassuring smile. "Aang I'm kidding, of course I have a plan." She got off my lap and sat to face me. "We're gonna confront my father."
Sokka's POV
The wedding was due to happen in a few weeks and dad hadn't managed to get any leads on Katara, which was having a negative effect on the castle staff. And dad was even worse. He was now leading the searches himself, as he felt that his men weren't sufficient enough anymore. He had been gone for a week, and allowed me to run the castle while he was away. The guards that were left to protect the kingdom had little to no respect for me, and it made it hard to delegate to them.
It was late, and I wasn't able to sleep. It was strange not having Katara around anymore. She lightened up the castle in a way you just can't describe. I secretly missed hearing her and Aang giggling from her room late at night, but there was nothing I could do now. Yawning, I got up from my bed to head to the bathroom. As I made my way out into the hallway, I could see Katara's light was on. Nobody had been in her room for weeks, so this was completely strange. It was dark and I was groggy, but I felt compelled to check her room. I slowly creaked her door open, the light hitting my eyes made me blink rapidly.
As soon as I opened the door fully I was met with an unexpected pair of visitors. Upon realizing who they were, my eyes widened.
"K-katara?"

I'm so sorry for the long break I took, I'll be trying to update more frequently!
This chapter is kind-of choppy, because it's mostly a filler chapter.
My writer's block is terrible right now, but the next chapter will hopefully be better.
Stay tuned for more! Also check in on my Taang story Confusion which will be updated soon as well!
