Most of the way to Hogwarts I spend talking to Ginny and getting to know everyone else. It seemed as though it hadn't been a very long ride, but I couldn't tell. During the ride I got to meet Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood, a few more of Ginny's freinds.

As we arrived to Hogwarts, I felt the pit in my stomach re-appear. I took a moment to look around before following Ginny to the carriage we were taking to the castle. When we got inside I was so nervous I felt like my head would explode, and I think Ginny noticed because she queezed my shoulder and waved goodbye as she waked away. Since it was my first year at Hogwarts I had to wait with all the first years so that I could get sorted into my house.

"Hello everyone, welcome to Hogwarts. We will be heading into the great hall in a moment" pronounced an older looking woman who introduced herself as Professuer Mgonagall. It felt like I had been waiting outside the great hall for hours but Professuer Mgonagall finally pulled me aside and told me I'd be going first since I was the oldest.

When I walked into the great hall with all the first years I could feel everyones eyes straight on me. I didn't even care to notice all the decorations in the room because of how scared I was. Dumbledore started his speech and begin explaining why I was a fifth year being sorted into a house. It didn't matter what he said anyways, because I was so anxious I blacked out for most of the speech. I came back to it when Professeur Mgonagall waved for me to sit on the stool.

I sat there praying and hoping in my mind that I would be placed in Gryffindor house.  As they put the hat on my head it started talking, "erm-ummm-I believe...she is...A SLYTHERIN." The minute the sorting hat announced that I would be a slytherin I could feel the tears filling up in my eyes. I didn't want anyone to see, so I fought as hard as I could to push the tears away. I could hear the slytherin table screaming and roaring as they were waiting for me to go sit down.

I looked over to the Gryffindor table to see the look on Ginny's face and the sorrow she showed in her expression. I shot a sad look back at her, and she mouthed something that looked like I'm sorry. I sat down at the Slytherin table next to a girl with thick and long dirty blond hair and a face full of freckles. "are you okay?" the girl looked over at me twisting to see my reaction. "you looked like you'd seen a ghost up there" she laughed with her freinds and turned back towards me. I didn't answer because I wanted nothing more then to be left alone. "Anyways since you won't answer I'm Bella Strapford. That's Pansy Parkinson, Oh, and Milicent-" a brown haired boy cut her off. "And I'm Blaise, Blaise Zabini. What's your name." "oh shut up Zabini. You're pissing me off" A pale blonde haired boy scowled.

"so what is your name? I wasn't listening to dombledores speech," Bella asked."I-I-umm...I'm Katie young I transferred here from Beaubaxtons." I exclaimed quietly. "no one gives a shit where you transferred from," said the blonde haired boy in an icy tone. As he said that I knew even more in my gut that I was not a Slytherin, but a Gryffindor. It didn't bother me that much anyways because I didn't even know his name.

"Oh shut up Malfy," "Yeah, Draco," everyone at the table scoffed. Atleast I found my answer and knew his name was Draco Malfoy. After a while Dumbledore finally finished his speech and announced the feast would be starting. I looked around confused as I saw no food, and then piles of it popped up infront of me on the platters. I wasn't very hungry so I just picked and pocked at my chicken. While everyone was eating Professeur Mgonagall was going around and giving out schedules.

When she got to me she handed me my schedule and then stopped dead in her tracks. She looked at me and then back at a paper in her hand and whispered in my ear, "I hear you play Quittedge, and the Slytherin tryouts are next week." I nodded at her and simply answered "Thank you." That night I left the great hall early and went to my dormitory. I found out that I was sharing a room with Bella, Pansy, and Milicent because we were the only fifth year girls in Slytherin house. I dumbed everything out of my trunk and was slowly starting to organize it , and before I knew it I was dozing off in my bed.
