The Girl in His Shadow (Harry Potter Universe)

October 1981

October 31st, 1981.

The day they died.

Harry was only a little over a year old. Rosalie was only 2 months old.

This is how it went down for Rosalie.

~Flashback~

"Sirius please be careful with her" scowled Lily.

"I'm always careful with my little black rose" Sirius smiled back to the giggling infant "Lily when does Severus arrive?" he asked the redhead "In around an hour or so" she replied

James came walking downstairs with a fussy baby Harry, "Lily my love, did you make a bottle for him?" Harry went with his mother as she gave him a bottle, she smiled down at her son. Sirius handed his best friend his daughter. And smiled at the 4. A happy family.

At that moment Remus and Marlene apparated into the home holding 2 babies. One in Remus's arm and the other in Marlene's.

"Ah, my beautiful babies!" Sirius walked towards his twins "Shush Padfoot! They're trying to sleep" Lupin whispered and shouted walking toward his best friend, with Marlene walking towards Sirius.

"Oh Lupin we left Elio and Cordelia's bottles at home," said Marlene scowled, Lupin nodded his head "Dorcus will be furious knowing we left the bottles at home, we'll be back everyone, 10 minutes tops" Remus and Marlene quickly apparated back to the flat the 4 were sharing.

James handed Sirius his daughter, "I'm going to make her a bottle, I'll be back" Sirius nodded his head. Sirius held Rosalie and looked down at her. "Hello, my little Black Rose, no need to fuss, daddy will be right back with a bottle" He whispered down at her.

"Sirius I'm going to put Harry down for a nap, he finally calmed down, and he's sleepy" Lily whispered to Sirius "if Rosalie gets sleepy put her down with Harry, please" Sirius nodded his head and continued to rock Rosalie back and forward in his arms.

"Sirius! Sirius!" James came running back frantically shouting with a bottle in his hand "Sirius! He's coming!" James looked at his best friend in his eyes fear and rage through his eyes "Who, Prongs, who's coming?" asked Sirius with a concerned voice and look on his voice "Voldemort" answered James.

Sirius face became serious, at the mention of that name. James gave him the bottle for Rosalie and as he did he said "You must go, take her and protect her, I believe you, Lupin, and Snape can protect my little Rose" Sirius look at his old friend as if he were crazy "But what about you? And Lily? And my godson? James you can't expect me to leave you all here to-" James cut off Sirius "I don't expect you, I beg of you Sirius, we'll be right behind you both. Please apparate to Grimmauld Place, keep my daughter safe" James pleaded.

Grimmauld Place was the place Sirius grew up in, and when his parents died he gave the home to be the headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix, so it's one of the safest places for Harry and Rosalie to be.

And Sirius nodded his head and grabbed Rosalie's favorite toy, a lion with a green blanket given to her by her godfather, looking back at his old friend not knowing it would be the last time he'd see him. Sirius sent a Patronus to Remus as quickly as he could, so they could meet at the headquarters. Sirius and James, looked at each other not knowing it was for the last time, nodded their heads at each other, and James said "We're right behind you."
