Iris’s POV:
I left Nikita to sort out her belongings and I told her I was headed to the cafeteria.
I lied.
I wondered around the dormitory area, thinking instead.
My friends and other members of the DP should be back in a day or two. They left hours before Nikita was admitted to the school’s hospital, I had to stay behind so she had someone to tell her what was going on when she woke up.
I went and saw her while she slept once the others had left, she was found unconscious with a deep cut to the left of her chest below her defined collar bone. I was in the infirmary building when Nikita woke up, two whole days after her arrival.
I walked past her room as the doctors informed her what had happened and why she was here. Lies, so many lies but they were only saying what they had been told too. Nikita also told the doctors that she had no recollection of the incident or why she ended up here.
But I’m not sure I believe her when she says that. I was called to the office later that afternoon, that’s when I finally met her. Nikita’s formally closed eyes now open, revealing the colour that surrounds her irises.
Green. Electric, vibrant green. I have never met someone with an appearance so unforgettable and I have met a lot of different kinds of people.
I was then instructed to give her a brief tour of the school and that’s when I found out that she was a member of the DP. This was incredibly unexpected as Dexterity program students are from wealthy families and they have an area that they are brilliant in.
Someone that arrives in the middle of the night, covered in bruises, then sleeps for two days can’t be from a wealthy family. But what surprised me more were the things she was down for in the DP.
Archery, High jump, Hurdles, Boxing, Sprinting and basic martial arts. She sounded more like a warrior than a student to me.
It was getting dark so I started making my way back to the dorm. I decided that I have to ask her why she is here. If I become friends with her she is more likely to tell me the true reason as to why she is here. Not the lie she keeps feeding the doctors.
Nikita turned up from nowhere. I have to find out why she is here by the time the others get back. They won’t be impressed by the new member to the DP. Especially because I doubt that she belongs here, I doubt that she is one of us.
Nikita’s POV:
I walked to the top of the staircase looking around the second floor as I did. Each of the four walls had five doors. The door straight ahead of me had the number 1 engraved on it and the door to its left of it had the number 20 on it.
There was a walkway about two metres wide that wrapped around all four walls with railings like the ones on the stairs. Thick black banisters with gorgeous swirls of black metal between each bar.
I turned right to walk in a clock-wise direction to door number 11, my new room. As I approached my new room I noticed that between each door was a small light that glowed yellow. Before I could reach for the handle, something to my left caught my attention. It was a key with the number 11 on it, dangling off the hook by the door.
