IN WHICH this chapter comes to a close
AUBERY was flying out of the Chamber, holding Ron's ankle tightly, as Lockhart held on her ankle, and Harry and Ginny were at the bottom.
"Amazing! This is just like magic!" Lockhart cheers.
They land in front of the entrance, where Professor Dumbledore and Madam Pomfrey were waiting. Lockhart and Ginny were whisked away by Madam Pomfrey, and the 3 followed Professor Dumbledore to his office.
"You all realize, of course, that in the past few hours you have broken perhaps a dozen school rules?" Dumbledore questions.
"Yes, sir." The 3 nods.
"And there is sufficient evidence to have you all expelled." Dumbledore continues.
"Yes, sir." They nod again.
"Therefore, it is only fitting, that you 3 receive Special Awards for Services to the School." Dumbledore answers, and their jaw drops.
"Thanks, sir!" Ron gasps.
"And now, Mr. Weasley, if you would, have an owl deliver these release papers to Azkaban? I believe we- we want our gamekeeper back." Dumbledore hands Ron a piece of paper, and Ron leaves.
"And, Miss. Lupin, if you would notify Professor McGonagall of our situation, and get ready for the Leaving Feast, that would be appreciated." Dumbledore replies.
"Yeah." Aubery nods and walks off after Ron.
Going through the Hogwarts Corridors alone was really not Aubery's cup of tea, however, she did find her way to the Transfiguration Class. She knocked on the door, and Professor McGonagall appeared, wearing her usual robes, but without the hat.
"Miss. Lupin, what gave you the idea to-" McGonagall starts, but Aubery cut her off.
"Professor Dumbledore told me, to tell you, that the monster has been caught and slain, Ginny Weasley has been safely taken back, and to get ready for the Leaving Feast," Aubery says, in one quick gasp.
"I- Oh, Lockhart really did it?" McGonagall seemed surprised.
"No, Lockhart lost his memory." Aubery snorts.
"Why is it always you 4." McGonagall sighs. "Very well. Off to your common room. I'll post an announcement. You're absolutely disgusting. You look like you've been through the mill. Go change."
"Alright." Aubery smiles.
"Go on," McGonagall says.
At her words, Aubery bounded off to the Gryffindor Common Room, to find most of the kids ready to leave.
"How did you sneak out!" Fred asks.
"Yeah, even we couldn't get out because of the stupid Caterwauling Charm Flitwick put up," George replies.
"Where are Ron and Ginny?" Percy questions.
"What about the monster?" Lavender asks.
"Why are you so dirty?" Eliza asks.
Aubery did nothing but smile, and walk into the girl's dormitories. Eliza followed after her, after Ron came in, and was bombarded yet again with questions, in which he responded continuously with: "I don't know!" or "Why is it always me?"
"So. I guess you vanquished the monster." Eliza says, as Aubery packed her things, but pulled out a new robe.
"Yeah, basilisk. The thing was bloody huge Lizzie, you should've seen it." Aubery smiles, before going into the bathroom.
"Heh, I'd rather you save the school's hide than me." Eliza smiles.
"Well, Lockhart did lose his memory in there, but he was a fraud, tried to erase our memories. Oh, we got Ginny back safely, of course, she's in the Hospital Wing, and-"
"What!" Eliza asks.
"Yeah, Lockhart was a bloody fraud. Thank Merlin he used Ron's faulty wand, or else we'd be toast." Aubery came out of the bathroom.
"Oh." Eliza sported a look, that was like a puppy's face when you didn't give them enough treats. "Was a fraud."
"I mean, he wasn't really that good of a wizard. Great in acting, but spells? No, not really. And if he had remembered what Snape said, he could have used my wand." Aubery replies.
"What about his wand?" Eliza asks as they exited. They met Ginny on the stairs, and they proceeded down.
"Oh, we made him leave it in his office." Aubery laughs.
"What happened?" Seamus asks. "McGonagall just told us to get ready for the Leaving Feast."
"You'll see." Aubery smiles. "Let's go. I haven't eaten since last night."
They arrived in the Great Hall, where Ron, Harry, and Aubery sat together, talking animatedly.
"Harry- it's Hermione!" Neville says as they peered at the door.
"'Mione!" Aubery smiles, as they ran towards each other. They hugged, and Harry and Hermione hugged as well.
"Uhh-um... Welcome back, Hermione." Ron smiles, as they awkwardly shook hands.
"It's good to be back! Congratulations! I can't believe you solved it!" Hermione smiles.
"Well, we had loads of help from you," Harry says.
"We couldn't have done it without you," Aubery adds.
"Thanks." Hermione smiles.
"Could I have your attention, please?" McGonagall taps on a cup.
"Before we begin the feast, let us have a round of applause for Professor Sprout and Madame Pomfrey, whose Mandrake juice has been so successfully administered to all who had been Petrified. Also, in light of the recent events, as a school treat, all exams have been canceled." Dumbledore announces.
"Oh, no!" Hermione mutters, amidst the cheers.
"They haven't told us what happened!" George roars angrily.
"Yeah!" Fred yells.
"Sit down you hooligans!" Percy snaps. The applause died down, as the door opened yet again.
"Sorry, I'm late! The owl that delivered my release papers got all lost and confused. Some ruddy bird called Errol." Hagrid replies, walking down the hall. He stopped where Harry, Ron, Aubery, and Hermione sat. "And I'd just like to say that if it hadn't been for you, Harry, and Ron, and Aubery, and Hermione, o' course, I woulduh- I'd still be you-know-where, so I- I'd just like to say 'Thanks.'"
"Well, there's no Hogwarts without you, Hagrid." Harry smiles and hugs Hagrid.
"Oh!" Hagrid smiles.
"Yeah! Yeah!" Everyone cheers, as people stand up and clap.
