Demon

Henry's POV

"Are you gonna tell me who the victim is or- are you gonna leave it as a surprise?" I said the ending of that sentence with a little bit of sarcasm.

Warlock, once again, kept to himself and simply waited for the sun to set so it would be much easier to kill.

"Usually it takes you a while to pick someone- why'd you decide so quickly today?" I asked, genuinely curious.

He glanced over at me. "He seemed like an asshole. Nobody's gonna miss him."

I parted my lips to make an "o" and nodded knowingly. I noticed he always seemed to go for the more, evil people.

I don't think I've seen Warlock attack an innocent human before... but to be fair- I only met him just recently so I wouldn't be so surprised if he had.

My mind wandered off to the boy from the marketplace. I can still clearly remember the name the shopkeeper called him.

Snap.

A little- unusual, but that made it all the better personally.

"It'll soon be dark. Once everyone is asleep, we will take action." Warlock reminded me of what he was planning to do. I sighed quietly and nodded.

Personally, I never really enjoyed killing humans. I know- what a weird thing for a demon to say, but I just never got any enjoyment out of it. Of course, because of this, a lot of demons tend to try and attack me.

It's been taught since we were first created. Our sole purpose is to make humans sin. That way they could go to the underworld and be part of our kingdom as slaves or sex toys.

But, I always wondered, if there was such a thing as angels, why do they never appear at anytime? Demons usually show themselves to people to make them paranoid but angels never show themselves to help people feel calm and protected.

Wonder why that is.

"We will be staying in this town for a couple of days." Warlock randomly informed me out of the blue.

"Wha- how come??" I was genuinely confused.

Then it clicked.

"Ohh- you wanna see your boy again huh?" I wiggled my eyebrows at him and nudged him slightly. He sent me a deathly glare.

"Not for the reason you think! I just- I just wanna enjoy using him as a sex slave. That's all." He looked away from me, gripping the side of his coat.

"Come on now. We both know that's not true." I frowned at his words. I knew he was not that cruel.

As per usual, he gave me the silent treatment.

Fuck, sometimes, it would be more enjoyable to be alone than to have Warlock as company. It makes you wonder why I stick with him all this time.

That's a story for another day.

I wonder.... what Snap is up to right now?

I mean- he did seem like he was in a hurry. I bit my lip slightly. I'm intrigued now.

"I'll be back Warlock. This won't take too long." I announced as I arose from my sitting position. Warlock looked over at me and nodded his head a bit.

At that gesture, I proceeded to use my demonic powers to travel through the shadows, and so I could pin point where exactly Snap was.

It took me a few tries, but I located him a bit ways off of the town. Hm... so he doesn't live IN town.

How fun.

Making my way through the dense wilderness, I eventually reached what appeared to be a church, but reading the sign at the front let me know that this was an orphanage.

Huh... so Snap was an orphan.

I heard lots of yelling and cheering inside, which piqued my curiosity. As I was about to enter the gates, I froze and realized that each post had a small cross embedded into them.

Fuck.

Someone had a protection spell on the area.

I glared at the ridiculous tiny symbols and looked around to see if there was any other way of passing through. Unfortunately for me, there wasn't. So I was stuck trying to look through the slightly open windows.

The sun was already setting beyond the horizon. How has time passed by so quickly?

"Sure! It won't take long! Besides the sun hasn't even set yet!" I heard a familiar voice say. The front door opened, and out walked Warlocks boy with a bucket in his hands.

He headed off in the direction across from the road to town. I shrugged.

Might as well follow him. It's not like I can do anything else. And besides, I was sort of curious as to where he was headed.

I traveled through the shadows once more, since it was way more stealthier and silent compared to just following him in almost broad daylight.  This road looked kinda familiar.

He swung the bucket lazily in his grasp, humming to himself as he carefully avoided some sharp rocks and overgrown roots. Occasionally ducking to get out of the way of branches.

Eventually, we arrived at the place where we had first spotted them. At the riverside.

Ah, so that's why this place gave me deja vu.

"Hm... I wonder what else I could have gotten for Snaps birthday..." He said out loud to himself, as he scooped up some water carefully.

Interesting.

"Maybe the gift wasn't enough... but he looked happy though." He continued to speak to nobody in particular. I was tempted to go on out and ask him some questions I had about Snap, but I decided not to. He would most likely find this whole situation very creepy.

Then, I sensed it.

My instincts shot up and I crouched down low behind some bushes.

It was a stray demon.

He was most likely after Warlocks boy. He was the only one out here and it would be the perfect opportunity for any wandering demon to get a free kill for the night.

Fucking hell.
