The next morning, Yangyang wakes me up before the sun rises.
"Baby, wake up please." Yangyang said.
"Ugh. . . What time is it?" I groaned.
"It's 5am. I want to take you somewhere to watch the sunrise." Yangyang said.
"Fine." I groaned, getting up and stretching.
I get showered and ready for the day earlier than I would like to. Yangyang borrows his dad's car to drive me to the Rhine River. Once arriving, I notice there's lots and lots of sheep, surprisingly.
"Sheep!" I exclaimed.
"Do you wanna pet them?" Yangyang asked.
"Pfft, of course I wanna pet the sheep." I said.
"They're pretty calm, so I think you can just do it." Yangyang said.
I approach one of the sheep slowly and quietly. Used to humans, it doesn't walk away. I pet the fluffy sheep and am satisfied with my morning now.I walk back to Yangyang who has laid out a picnic blanket for us to sit in front of the Rhine River. He has placed away from the sheep to avoid sitting in sheep dung or something. Yangyang and I watch the sunrise together. It's so peaceful here, I wish I could stay here forever. Right as the sun rose, Yangyang gets down on one knee. He is presenting this ring:
"Shelly, you are the love of my life. I would want nothing more than to spend the rest of our days together. I want you to never leave my side. I love you so much, and I would like you to be part of my life forever. Will you marry me?" Yangyang asked.
"What? Yes, of course!" I exclaimed. I feel the tears rolling down my face. I knew this was coming, but for him to do it this way. It was perfect. Yangyang stands up and wipes my tears away.
"You will never have to cry again if you're in my life for eternity." Yangyang said.
"No, I'm just so happy. I love you so much, Yangyang." I said.
"We have to tell my parents now." Yangyang said.
"After we tell your parents, and when our vacation is over in Germany, we need to go to the US to tell my parents. They have to meet you." I said.
"Ah, that's right. I haven't even met your parents yet." Yangyang said.
"I hope my parents like you." I said.
"Me too." Yangyang said.Yangyang drives me back to his parents' house to announce the big news. I literally met his parents just yesterday and now we're engaged. How crazy life works. When Yangyang told his parents that he proposed to me, they were really happy for us. From first meeting, they really loved me. They thought I was the perfect girl for Yangyang, the only girl for Yangyang. I really appreciate the support from his parents.
Now, I have to get the approval from my parents, and that's the hardest part. I haven't been back home in years at this point. They deserve a visit now. Yangyang and I will enjoy our time in Germany, then fly over to the US. I will just not stress it and just be happy over the fact that Yangyang proposed to me in his home country. That has got to be the sweetest thing in the universe. I can't wait for more adventures here in Germany.
The next day, I asked if we could go visit Frankfurt for a day. Of course, he agreed. We packed up our things and hopped on the train down to Frankfurt. Once arriving, we have to book a hotel so we could stay the night and go exploring. Yangyang took care of all that stuff, and I'm just along for the ride. We arrive to our hotel. Yangyang books the room while I sit in a comfy chair, browsing my phone. I smile as I look at the countless photos I took of my engagement ring. I posted most of these photos, but picking and choosing the best ones.
Yangyang finishes booking the hotel, so we are on our way up. Yangyang leads me to the room, and when we walk in, it's so cozy. I really like it. I open the window to let some fresh air into the room. I see that there are flowers on the railing. Wow, these are really pretty. I take photos of the nice flowers. Yangyang hugs me from behind, frightening me a little.
"I love you so much, Yangyang." I said.
"I love you too." Yangyang said.
"Oh, wait my parents are calling me." I said, "Hello?"
"Hey, where are you right now?" Dad asked.
"Uh, I'm in Frankfurt, Germany actually." I said.
"Oh, really? Did your boyfriend bring you there?" Dad asked.
"Fiance now actually." I said.
"You didn't tell me you were engaged, wow congratulations." Dad said.
"Thank you. Would you like to talk to Yangyang about it?" I asked.
"Yes I would, please." Dad said.
"Okay, here he is." I said, hanging my phone to Yangyang.
"Hello?" Yangyang asked.
"So, you're marrying my daughter? I haven't even met you in person. How do I know you're a good guy?" Dad asked.
"I promise you, sir. Right after we are finished visiting Germany, that we will come to America. I will go and meet you." Yangyang said.
"Alright, kid." Dad said.
"I'm sorry to have asked her to marry me without getting your permission." Yangyang said.
"No, I knew something would happen while she was living in Korea." Dad said.
"Well, we'll see you soon." Yangyang said.
"Thanks for telling me. I'll be expecting ya." Dad said.
"Okay, sir. Bye." Yangyang said.
"Hello, dad?" I asked.
"Yeah, your boy doesn't seem terrible." Dad said.
"Oh, thank goodness. I thought you were going to hate him." I said.
"I am just upset that you didn't tell me you were really dating this guy." Dad said.
"Sorry." I said.
"Well, I hope to see you soon." Dad said.
"Yeah, we'll be flying over next week." I said.
"Okay, see you then." Dad said.
I take a breath of relief. Usually, my dad is super protective over me. Yangyang is happy to have talked to my dad. Hopefully we can get permission when we go to America.
