The puppet slowly rose to his feet.
"Who's there?" I asked.
"It's me..." It sounded exactly like Payton.
"What's going on?" I asked the spirit.
"Payton's soul is possessing the puppet."
"How do we get her out."
"You can't..."
I watched Payton stand silently. She stood with her endless and mysterious gaze.
Help me... I heard in my head.
I knew, though, that there was nothing I could do. Payton was lost. Lost inside this puppet.
I turned to the still yellow suit. I feared for the worst.
"Why isn't Maddie moving?" I already knew the answer.
The spirit stayed silent.
I started to get mad at myself.
"Why did I have to love them? Why couldn't I have just let them go? They wouldn't have ended up like this."
"Foxy, you can't blame yourself."
"Who else is there to blame?"
My gaze shifted over to the bear in a top hat walking in the room.
I ran towards him and pinned Freddy to the wall.
"Why did you have to do this?" I motioned over to the lifeless bear and the floating puppet.
"It was Bonnie, though."
"If you hadn't been around, Maddie wouldn't have ever gotten hurt. I could just have a friend, and we could have all lived in peace. But, no. You just loved the spotlight so much, that you wouldn't let anybody else have it."
"Foxy, you just don't understand."
"What do you mean?"
"I just...was sort of jealous in a way. No kid ever loved me like Maddie loved you."
I released my grip on Freddy.
"I'm sorry, Foxy. I should have just let you have a friend."
"It's okay. I understand. Now, we need to figure out how to save Payton and Maddie."
I saw some sort of emotion flicker in Freddy's eyes.
Something just seems...wrong...
