I had one more day. I decided to stay at my mom's house. My girls Misha, Erica, and Regina made a girl's night out of it. Jason had another boy's night out, so he said. Lately, he been coming home late. I wasn't tripping. Why should I? At my Prenatal check up I found out I was having:
"It's a girl!" exclaimed Erica. I looked at the sonogram. My heart seem to soar. I ignored the cold jelly on my protruding belly and the cold wand.
"So...did you tell your parents?" asked Misha.
I made a choice not to tell because I know to them it would be the most joyful thing.
I couldn't muster up the courage to tell Jason the truth.
We were distant. He was more into his on interest like working late and odd hours. I never question him because I was caught up in my own mess. The person I wanted to confide in well, I couldn't. But there was Daddy.
"I am not gonna tell you what to do, Connie, but you got a couple of hours..." he replied. He was working on his classic 1965 Mustang. Ma said it was junk, but Dad was nostalgic like that. "The honorable thing is to go through with it..." I said. He shrugged and then he went back under the hood tinkering.
"I got so much going on, Dad...." I replied. Dad got up. " You mean you living so many lies Connie?" He asked. "I am your dad and I am a man. I know you, Jason is not right...can't put my finger on it but the red flags you ignored I picked up on." Dad looked at my hand. " Because that rock blinded you and all your girl friends getting married blind you. Marriage is not a big expensive ring and a big day. That's a lifetime commitment. And Connie...the two of you aren't committed."
Afterwards, I made a call to the Caterer and Erica. I prayed it wouldn't rain. We were having the wedding in the park. I finished paying for the dresses. The two of you aren't committed. Dad's voice rang in my head. I thought of Relic. His touch and kiss. His body. It came to me what Janice was telling me. If I loved Jason and if he loved me, we could work this out.

I called Jason. I think I can pretend to be a happy bride.
" Tomorrow, you will be Mrs. Jason Myers." He replied. I smiled and look at my ring.
I am getting married now. I got to tell him.
"I am happy." I didn't feel happy because a split second I saw Relic's face.
"Yes and I need you to look at some papers I got my Lawyer to draw up for us. We can do that after the honeymoon..." he informed me.
It was a damn prenup. But I didn't care. If he left he was leaving intact and so was I.
The rest of the day, I stayed at the office. Johnathan decided the the satellite company was still an idea.
That night the girls came over except for Janice.
" I think you really need to talk to her." said Erica. I shook my head. Janice was stubborn.
"Well, how you gonna tell Jason about the baby?" asked Regina. I shrugged.
Regina shook her head. "Maybe you just need to tell him the truth. You have at least twenty four hours to come clean." she replied.
Misha took a sip of wine. " We can't tell you what to do. Jason may except it or he may not but we got you girl...." she explained. Regina and Erica agreed. "Now let get this party started...." Misha said as she turned on the stereo. WRLV played a lot of old school that night. We danced until 11:00 and then we all curled up on the couch and floor in blankets and went to sleep. I couldn't sleep because of the things that were on my mind.
Maybe I need to come clean.
