"Damn, girl...you got huge bags!" exclaimed Misha as she applied my makeup.
We had to be to the park by ten thirty. Ma came in and replied that he didn't look like it was going to rain.
"Connie, you look beautiful." said Ma giving me a hug. Then she produced a turquoise necklace and put it around my neck.
"That takes car of something borrowed and something blue." She said giving me a kiss on my temple.
"I got an penny from 1986...that's old..." said Regina giving me the penny. I held it and the bouquet of Violets, Baby's Breath, and white Carnations tightly.
My girls looked beautiful in their yellow silk dresses.
Dad was handsome in his black suit and red tie. He gave me a kiss.
"Connie, always follow your heart. Don't let anything over rule your heart because you won't be happy."
He and Ma left early. Jason came knocking on the door. " You can't see the bride yet." said Erica stopping him in his tracks.
" Well, tell her I will see her at the gardens. I just want her to look over the papers." He replied then he left. Erica gave me the papers.
"That's a prenup?" asked Misha twisting her face.
I looked over it. Erica looked at it and said, "So this Nigga wants ten percent of your business if you two were to get a divorce."
"I thought you kept your shit and he keep his?" asked Misha.
"That's what I thought and we divide whatever equally but he wants ten percent of my ownership in Taylor-Ericsson. No alimony. He is out of his mind!" I exclaimed.
"Girl...do you want to marry this dude?" Misha asked.
The park was beautiful. Today was a little breezy for a June day. But the air smell of the scent of blooming roses.
My family was on one side along with my coworkers and his family along with his co workers sat in chairs situated in the garden.
The groomsmen and my bridesmaids came down the aisle. And Trayvon, my nephew from Troy and his first baby mama Trina came bearing the rings.
Then my nieces LaTavia and LaTrell from Troy's second Baby mama came out tossing petals down.
Nervously, I held on to my Father's arm.
Follow your heart. My heart fluttered as I made my way down the aisle. As all eyes were on me. I tried to focus on what was in front of me.
Jason had this dorky evil smile on his face. Ten percent of Taylor-Ericsson Realtor.
Did I really love Jason? We been together for six years and I still didn't think I know him. I guess I just stuck with him because he was the ideal man. He had a good job, wealth and Dad liked him. I think. He was never gonna be Relic but he was thoughtful..sometimes. What other interest he had besides making more money? Our dates always consist of fancy restaurants and lavish hotels. Resorts and some time on the beach where he was working or attending some seminar.
I stood beside Jason as the Justice of the Peace spoke.
"Whoever has just cause that this union should not take place speak now or forever...."
"I object!" Shouted a Female voice.
There was gasps that whispered in the gardens air. I turned to see Keyke holding an envelope.
"Key...." exclaimed Jason. I just stood there sweating and nauseous.
" No...Jason. I love you. You are supposed to me my husband!"
"Key, we talked about this....." Jason exclaimed as his forehead popped sweat.
"Now wait a minute....Jason throw this Ghetto trash out!" cried Jason's mother standing up.
" I am trash and then she's a hoe!" She cried.
"And I got proof here!"
"She been cheating on you Jason..." she answered. "And you know it!"
Jason tried to shush her. "You told me to follow her and take pictures!" There were more gasps.
Jason answered, "Yes, I did and I found out some things about your little Connie, Mr. Taylor..." My father had an angry look on his face. My mother looked worried. I was fainted.
Misha told Jason to shut up. "Your little girl was out cheating and she cheats on me with a..."
I couldn't hold it any longer. Everyone looked at me in disbelief. "Okay...Jason......" Then without warning I threw up on his shining Gucci dress shoes.
"I am pregnant...." I managed to say between a heave. Keyke laughed, " And Jason ain't the father!"
Misha cried out, "Yeah and we robbed your dorky ass too!"
The rest of the day. I found myself crying in my father's embrace. I was ashamed. Embarrassed of how the day went. The guest went over to the hall the enjoy the food and music anyway.
"Dad, I am sorry you and Ma raised me differently..." I apologized sobbing.
"I am glad it came out before you made that big mistake of marrying someone trying to take you. Six years don't mean anything when there is no love." I shake my head and cleaned my face.
"So what about the father?" asked Dad. "I haven't talk to him lately."
"Well, you need to." Ma came over and hugged me.
"I am gonna be a Grandma!" she exclaimed. We both looked at Ma incredulous.
" I didn't like him anyway....I having a grand baby." She replied.
"And I am ready to go shopping for baby clothes."
We sat in the garden making some plans on where I was going to stay.
