I'm In Love With A Fantasy

XXIV

I put my hands on the small of Madi's back and pull her closer to me as we sway to the Holiday music softly playing.

"Kiss me in the moonlight, slow on your lips. Dancing in the driveway, hands on your hips." We sing to each other.

I lean in and kiss Madison quickly before pulling away and rubbing our noses together. She scrunches up her nose cutely.

"You're adorable," I say.

"Says you." She puts her hands on both sides of my face and pulls me in for another kiss, smiling into it.

"Okay, we get it! You're dating!" Ryder says.

"Way to ruin the moment ass hat."

"Madison!" Her mom says.

"Anyways, I'm going to bed. I'll see you two tomorrow." He says, leaving us alone with our parents.

"I think we're going up too," Tracie says.

"Okay, love y'all." We quickly hug our parents and then get back to dancing.

"I don't think I'm tired," I tell Madison.

"Me neither." She says with a small giggle.

We continue to slowly sway to the music as we share little kisses.

"I love you," I tell her.

"I love you too." I pull her into a hug.

"Thank you for sticking with me through everything these past few months. It really means a lot for you to stay." I tell her.

"Why wouldn't I stay?"

"When things get hard, people leave."

"I promise I'll never leave." She tells me.

"Promise?" I ask.

"Promise."

"You know, some people suck but you don't," I tell her.

"Should we put on some different music?" Madison asks, changing the subject.

"Yeah, just put on my late-night playlist," I tell her.

She grabs my phone and types in the passcode, which is her birthday and goes into the Spotify app changing the music.

We dance around the living room, singing all the lyrics we know to each other and slow dancing when certain songs came on. This is the best night of my life. Just being able to spend time with the love of my life as all of our favourite songs play and we get to dance and sing to each other.

This is what true happiness feels like.

I glance over at the clock in the living room and see the time. 

4:42 AM

I look back over at Madison and see her rubbing her eyes as she yawns. I go over to my phone and pause the music.

"I think we should go to bed. It's almost five." I say.

"Can we just sleep down here? The couch is comfy."

"Of course baby." I go over and kiss her forehead.

I go around and turn off all the lights before going back into the living room, just to see Madison passed out, wrapped in a white, fuzzy blanket, mouth slightly open. I just stand and observe her. Her beautiful features on full display. 

"I love you." I kiss her forehead before carefully getting in behind her and wrapping myself in the blanket. I drape my arm over her and give the back of her neck a final kiss before passing out.
