Charlotte kept a fast pace moving with her head down.

She felt bad keeping things from her best friend but she knew it was for her own good.

That question Char asked though; 'What is the name of a child born of a mortal and a god.' It constantly rang in Charlotte's head, and of course, Char thought it was just a myth, but what would she do when she was told that it wasn't? And even more importantly, what would she do when she was told that she and herself are demigods? And to add to the pile of craziness, they both would be forced to go to a camp for demigods for their own safety.

Charlotte knew about the camp but she had never been there. Her mother always asked her to stay as close to her as possible, and Charlotte didn't blame her. After her dad left, whoever he was, her mom wanted her as close to her as possible, and once Charlotte was told that Char was a demigod as well, by Mrs. Hrobsky, Charlotte became more committed to stay and protect Char as much as she could, even putting her own life at risk. Camp Jupiter. The safest and best place for Roman demigods.

"Who were the two brothers that founded Rome?" Char asked, snapping her out of her train of thought.

Charlotte sighed, "Romulus and Remus."

"Correct, and who raised them?"

"Lupa."

"Who?"

"Oh, um, a she-wolf?"

Char nodded.

Charlotte scanned the trees as they walked past an old, local park. Then, suddenly, they came across a cluster of bushes.

A twig snapped within them.

Charlotte's head snapped up. She quickly stopped Char from walking any farther.

"What-"

She covered Char's mouth before she could finish her sentence.

"Char," she whispered. "Listen carefully to what I have to say to you."

Char nodded repeatedly.

"I want you to run as fast as you can to school, without looking back. I will get there in time, don't worry."

"Charlotte?" Char's muffled voice was soft and full of panic and confusion.

"I promise, I will explain it all later, but for now, you have to get to school. You will be safe there."

Char tried to speak but Charlotte simply would not let her.

"Go now!"

Then, the two bolted apart, Char sprinting to school, and Charlotte charging straight into the cluster of rustling bushes.
