Two days passed and there was still, no word from Charlotte. Char even decided to walk around the park to see if she was where she last saw her, but of course, she was wrong. Nothing was there.

There was not much she could do. She did not know where Charlotte went. Char wanted to call the police, but for some reason, something slightly held her back from doing it.

She continued to go to school, got picked on by Valerie every morning, and repeatedly faced her demonic history teacher.

"How's your homework going?" Char's mom asked from upstairs.

"Fine, mom!" Char called back, busy finishing a math equation. She dialed the problem into her calculator to check her answer.

Wrong.

Char snapped her pencil in frustration. She couldn't do it anymore. She needed to know if Charlotte was alright. She grabbed her phone and dialed in the police station's number, but something held her back from pressing the call button.

Char took a deep breath. This is necessary, she thought, and pressed the call button.

"This is San Francisco Police Station. How may we be of service to you?" the receptionist's voice spoke.

"Hello, I am calling to tell you that my friend is missing," she said, trying to act as calm as she could.

"Alright. Stay calm. When did you see her last?" the voice responded.

Char explained the whole story to the police.

They immediately started broadcasting it all over the local news and sent search parties out to search for her.

"Char?" she heard a familiar voice.

"Mom."

"What happened?" she asked, her voice full of concern. "Charlotte is missing?"

Char sighed. "I'm not sure exactly. She disappeared on our walk to school two days ago."

"Why didn't you tell me?" her mother spoke in a slightly more harsh voice.

Char flinched at her tone. "I-I'm sorry. I thought it was nothing."

Her mom shifted her position. She clearly knew something that Char did not.

Her mom took a deep breath. "Ok, let's let the police do their magic and I'll talk to Charlotte's mother."

Char nodded nervously. "I'll keep my eye on the news."

Her mother sighed.

Char gritted her teeth, "What do you know?"

Her mom tilted her head. "What do you mean, pickles?"

"Mom, you know something that I don't."

Her mother shifted her position.

"Where is Charlotte?" she begged.

"I'm not positive," she dismissed the question. "I don't want to put any ideas in your head, dear."

Before Char could protest, her mom was already upstairs, and the bedroom door closed.

Char clutched her head. This can't be happening, she thought miserably.
