"So what do you think?" Hazel asked as they concluded the tour of the camp.
"It's astonishing," Charlotte answered, amazed, though she was still processing the fact that she was the daughter of Jupiter.
Once she got claimed in the Mess Hall, people were crowding her, and asking her all sorts of questions, going on about 'The Big Three'.
The pressure was on now. The campers now had high expectations for her, being the child of the god of the sky and the king of the gods.
Hazel managed to pull her away from the crowds and decided to give her a private tour of the camp.
They came to a stop in front of another large building with tall, white columns, and beautiful carvings in the top.
"This is the principia," Hazel stated. "It's where the Praetors hold large decisions and gatherings. Sometimes, it's where the new demigods meet the Praetors, but since you were found unconscious outside the gates, it was a little different for you."
That's when the memories flashed back into her mind.
Charlotte looked at her feet. She shifted, uncomfortably.
The monster she fought. The gates of camp.
"But, the cyclops. That...was real. I faced that thing...with a Swiss army knife, the size of my finger."
Hazel smiled, "Yep, pretty impressive, though not surprising for a child of Jupiter. Every demigod born of the Big Three has extremely advanced fighting ability and power."
"Power," Charlotte repeated, her mind still comprehending the thought of it.
Hazel nodded. "Some other demigods have powers that correspond to their parents, but if you're Big Three material, your powers are quite stronger than others. We will have to figure yours out so you can harness them and use them when you're fighting."
Hazel met Charlotte's eyes, as if she was studying her. "Lupa certainly trained you well if you fought a cyclops as your first monster."
The cyclops.
Char, she thought terrified. She had completely forgotten the reason why she had fought it. She needed to talk to the Praetors.
If they're as good as they say, then they will help me get Char, she thought.
"So, the principia," Charlotte stated. "The Praetors hang out there?"
Hazel frowned. "I wouldn't put it like that. But yes. They are usually found there."
Charlotte needed to speak with them.
Frank and Reyna. Reyna. She remembered her face when Charlotte was claimed.
She shook away the thought. That was the least of her worries at the moment. Right now, she needed to get to Frank and Reyna, alone.
"Hey Hazel," she said to her, making up an excuse. "I was wondering if I could get some rest back at the Barracks."
"Oh, of course! I'm sure you're exhausted. You've had a big day and a long week. The Barracks is that way if you can't remember." She pointed to the right.
"Thanks, Hazel," Charlotte managed a smile. She hated to lie to her, but she knew she needed to talk to the Praetors alone.
Hazel then gave Charlotte a quick, unexpected hug and ran off.
Charlotte made sure she was out of sight and turned to the principia. She took a deep breath and walked inside.
