It was awful.

It was horrendous.

Ghastly!

Despite all of these things, you were speechless.

Ingredients flew as they tried to escape the carnage that was Undyne's version of cooking. You sipped your water while watching the fish monster completely transfixed. The straw she had given you making loud desperate slurping noises as you drained the last of the liquid out of the glass but you didn't ask for more. You didn't want her to stop this violent version of the culinary arts until she was done with her masterpiece.

Undyne grabbed a tomato, gently set it on a cutting board, then commenced to pound it into oblivion with her fist while her other hand stirred the noodles vigorously in an over boiling pot. She noted the temperature of the noodles and practically growled in disapproval. "You humans have the worst kitchen appliances. Why doesn't anything reach higher than 650 degrees?" she grumbled out and you stopped idly sucking on your straw to arch an eyebrow at her.

"Why would we need it to be higher?" You asked as you arched an eyebrow at her.

She stopped stirring and whirled around to look at you while crushing another tomato in her fist. It's juices coating the immediate vicinity and some may have ended up on your face. You didn't flinch. "How else are you supposed to show your passion in cooking? By going to the extreme!" She replied with such confidence that it reminded you of someone. Your brain scrambled to figure out who until it clicked.

Papyrus.

In the weeks that you had spent at the skeleton brothers house, you had witnessed a few times how the taller skeleton made his meals in the kitchen and each time it had been rather... excessive. His method involved a lot of flair and passion, but it wasn't exactly right. You had asked him the exact same question only to be given the same answer that Undyne had just gave. Do all monsters cook this badly? Wait, no. They don't. Sans has made soup for you when you first were able to stay awake for extended periods and when you were looking really good he had treated you to a monster restaurant called Grillbys. He had said something along the lines of "Food that could warm up your SOUL."

Then Papyrus had thrown a pillow at him and a small pillow fight had ensued in the living room while you attempted to eat the burger. There must have been a pun in the sentence but it was something that had gone over your head.

A plate of spaghetti was placed in front of you and you pulled yourself out of memory lane to look up at a triumphant looking Undyne. "It's not like the cooking I normally do but I still cooked it with as much passion that the utensils would allow!" she exclaimed proudly.

You eyed the plate. It looked more like goulash with long noodles instead of spaghetti. The sauce was watery and punched to a pulp. There looked to be no seasoning added and the noodles look charred in some parts while extra mushy in others. Despite all of this, you took the fork the monster offered and took a bite anyway. Chewing very slowly, it took some effort to get the bite down but not because the dish was horrible. Yeah, it was bad but not so much so that you couldn't eat it. Well, it was worse than Papyrus's. At least, when he used his flair he used spices. Your body wasn't used to solids so it was hard to get down.

Back to soups and easy to eat foods. Again.

Regardless, you got the first bite down and started on a second making Undyne smile an intimidating toothy grin. Satisfied that you were enjoying her culinary work. She grabbed your empty glass to refill it while you went about attempting a second bite when there was suddenly a loud bang that shook the front of the house. At least you assumed it was the front of the house. Your recollection of the moments prior to falling asleep again after breaking Devin's nose again was a little fuzzy. You really only knew the couple hallways Undyne had carried you through and the lab that has been deemed "your room".
