Ishimaru awoke to the unfamiliar room he had fallen asleep in. He was so dazed that he had almost forgotten he had gone to Hell, and freaked out for half a second as he saw he wasn't in his own room. He quickly calmed down and got up, checking the time.
5:30
Good. He put on the clothing he had put on earlier. He looked himself in the mirror, only just now getting a full look of himself. He stretched out his wings to get a full view of them. He very was intrigued by them. The ends of the wings were slim but not sharp, and the webbing was soft and stretchy. The delicate web could explain why so many demons on the street had torn wings. He did a spin and looked at his tail, intimidated by just the sight of it. The barbed ending could cut open concrete from the looks of it.
He went inside the bathroom and quickly cleaned his face, walking out into the kitchen and seeing if there was anything that would work for dinner. There were some food cans in the cabinet and a couple of cereal boxes, but nothing in the refrigerator. He sighed and grabbed his wallet, leaving the apartment building and finding the location of a grocery store nearby on his phone.
It was a little close to gang territory, but Ishimaru just dealt with it. Besides, he wasn't afraid of them. He was simply going to avoid them for his convenience and to stay professional. As he walked towards the store, the buildings got shorter as it was farther from the center of the city. Behind the buildings Ishimaru noticed a large castle in the distance.
The castle was entirely jet black, emitting a dark glow. It must have been the castle of Celestia Ludenberg. Ishimaru looked away from it as he got to the grocery store, not wanting to look at it for another second.
He walked inside, looking around. It was relatively small but seemed to function well, and there were only around 7 other demons in there from what Ishimaru could see. He walked down the first aisle, picking up a couple of yogurt cups and juice. As he walked into the second aisle, he looked up and saw 2 larger male demons standing in front of a much smaller female demon.
"Lady, listen, just give us the motherfucking purse or this store is gonna get turned upside down," one of the males said, gritting his teeth.
"NO! You're crazy! No wonder the people around here always talk about people like you, you're a bunch of ASSHOLES!" She yelled back, not in the slightest intimidated by the man. The man punched the shelf in front of him knocking down a bunch of cleaning supplies, trapping the lady in front of him.
"CALL ME THAT ONE MORE TIME, I DA-"
"Ahem".
All three of the demons fighting looked over to Ishimaru, who had cleared his throat to make his presence known.
"I do hope you low-life scumbags aren't harassing this woman over her purse," Ishimaru said, his arms crossed and his eyebrows furrowed. The demon that hadn't been talking scowled at him.
"The fuck did you just call me and my brother?" The first demon asked, walking over and angrily staring down at Ishimaru.
"It would be my brother and I, and I called you low-life scumbags. Threatening to hurt somebody over them not giving you property that belongs to them? Pathetic."
"I'M GOING TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU!" He yelled, raising his fist before his brother grabbed his shoulder. His brother whispered something into his ear, which set his angry brother's face to a slight smirk.
"Tch, fucking forget it," The demon said, the two brothers leaving the store, one of them pushing the woman into the shelf.
"Ma'am are you alright?" Ishimaru asked, walking over to her and helping her get up and out of the shelf.
"I- yes. Thank you for the help... you usually don't get that kind of kindness in these parts," she said, almost suspicious of him.
"Ah, well I think it's safe to say I'm not from around here. Have a lovely day," Ishimaru said, continuing on with his shopping, finishing up, and heading down to his apartment. His mind was clogged.
Why did those men just give up? Why did he smirk? It didn't make any sense. From what he had been told in Heaven, demons weren't the most likely kind of people to reflect on their actions, not that quickly anyways.
He noticed the sky begin to darken, and demons began to disappear into their houses/apartments. He was a little on edge, since now the street was deserted and dark, lit by red neon lampposts.
He stopped and listened, swearing he heard a rustle behind him. He continued walking after a short period of silence. He freaked out as he heard running behind him.
Ishimaru tried making a run for it, before he was grabbed by the waist and a cloth covered his mouth. He stabbed the person behind him with his tail, in which they let go of him and hissed in pain. Ishimaru continued to try and run but a man quickly jumped in front of him and grabbed him. He tried to stab this man as well but his tail was quick grabbed, presumably by the other person that grabbed him. His mouth was covered by another cloth. The last thing he could remember was struggling against the two men, before everything started to spin and he passed out.((Sorry for the short chapter. I usually aim for 1.5k-2k words so ik 960 isn't a lot lol.))
