"Chihiro!" Ishimaru said, walking over to the small boy who had a laptop case with him, as per usual.
"Taka! Hi!" Chihiro said, looking up at him, "I know this is kind of sudden, but I was wondering if you'd like to go to a cafe for lunch with me? I mean- my deathiversary is today and I don't really want to spend it alone."
"Oh- wow. Has it already been 10 years? It hardly feels like it, but I'd love to join you for lunch! There's actually something I wish to talk to you about," Ishimaru said, starting to walk towards the exit with Chihiro.
"Sounds great! I had this cafe that's downtown in mind, but I know you don't like flying, so I'd also be willing to go to the one down the street."
"Well, it is your deathiversary, so I'd be willing to do a tiny bit of flying for you!"
Chihiro smiled and nodded. They got to a good spot to take off, and were quickly in the air. Ishimaru was lagging a bit behind Chihiro, since it had been a long while since he had last used his wings. In fact he had almost forgotten what downtown looked like from above. Golden trees and white buildings, a lot of it looked the same, but never looked anything less than gorgeous.
They made their descent and were soon in front of a small cafe, one of Chihiro's favorites from what Ishimaru knew. They took a seat in the back corner of the room and Ishimaru got a chance to massage his wings.
"I should really use my wings more often," Ishimaru said with a chuckle.
"Haha, yeah, if only they weren't so big," Chihiro said, grabbing a small menu from a stand at the back of the table.
"Hello! How may I help you two today?" A woman with a worker's outfit said, "We have a coffee special going on today if either of you are interested? Any coffee comes free with any lunch item after $8."
"Ah, may I'll just have a black coffee with buttered toast if that's alright," Ishimaru said, the waitress nodded and took Chihiro's order as well, before walking away.
"You said earlier that you had something to tell me, what is it?" Chihiro said politely.
"Oh, right! I met a familiar face today while at a meeting. Someone from Hope's Peak."
"That's wonderful! Who was it?" Chihiro's face lit up.
"Sayaka Maizono. She was the Ultimate Pop Idol, blue hair... first one to die..." Ishimaru mumbled the last part, but it didn't seem to faze Chihiro.
"Sayaka... yeah I remember her! She was Naegi's friend! How was she? I heard what happened to her in the Newspaper..."
"Huh? She seemed perfectly fine, what happened to her?"
Chihiro grabbed a newspaper from the back of their table, quickly flipping through the pages and then setting it down in front of Ishimaru. Ishimaru looked at it, his eyes slightly widening.
'Leon Kuwata, husband of Sayaka Kuwata sentenced to Hell.'
"It's awful, isn't it?" Chihiro said.
"Wha- why was he sentenced? That's hardly fair."
"It says he's been on trial for almost 10 years for being responsible for Maizono's death. The worst part is is that she forgave him! I mean they fell in love and everything..."
"I had no idea they were married as well. I should really read the News more often."
"Yeah... but on a happier note I got promoted!"Almost 4 hours later Ishimaru was unlocking the door to his townhome. He basically collapsed onto the couch, so much had happened in one day.
He had met Sayaka after almost 10 years, just to find out her husband Leon had been sentenced to Hell. He had also met with his team for the first time and had been given that potion...
Ishimaru just realized he still had the locket with the vial in it. He quickly dug through his bag and pulled out the vial, which was wrapped in tissue by Mr. Jane. Ishimaru sighed, then mentally slapped himself. How could he already be so reckless? He shook his head. Getting up from the couch he put his stuff on the kitchen counter, taking the vial upstairs and putting it onto a cushion in his night stand. Hopefully it should be as safe as possible. As he closed the drawer to his nightstand he slightly looked up, looking at the framed picture of him and Mondo Oowada. He picked it up and sat down on his bed, staring at the picture he cherished so much.
A thought jumped into Ishimaru's head. 'What if Mondo is in Hell? What if... I run into him,' Ishimaru laid down on the bed, deep in thought with the possibility, 'Would he even recognize me? His... best friend? Would we just be strangers? What if he takes it the wrong way and lashes out on me, wha- no. I shouldn't doubt my best friend like that.'
Ishimaru put down the frame. It seemed like every night he picked it up, just to stare longingly at his best friend. He quickly got into his pajamas and shuffled into bed, falling asleep rather quickly.
