Chapter 5: "Dinner and a Show"

2 Hours later

Katherine's POV:

After a long-ass drive, we arrived. And sure enough, it was indeed a manor. Not bad looking. Wonder what David's job is to keep this place up? So, after a quick introduction, we walked in. He had a table all set up with wine, and some salad made up.

David: "Let me pull your chair out m'lady."

Katherine: "Ooh, what a gentleman. (You fucking screw.)"

Not gonna lie, the salad was good, and the wine was fine. We talked for a while, and hey, at least it wasn't boring. He talked about how he could get a job at first as a Produce worker, then an office worker, and a variety of others. All of this in a year, and I only left him 2 months ago. I know he would always stuff from me, but nothing like this. Then he also reveals to me he has friends in Spain taking care of the pays for the manor, as well as sewage, electricity, and the car was even paid off. Good, all coming to my plan. Now he just needs to shut it, and walk out or something.

David: "So yeah, I've been so busy for quite a while. Sorry, I never told you. I was hoping you still would have stayed long enough for me to surprise you with this. But hey, at least you're here."

Katherine: "Well, I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking that day."

David: "Well now I know why you were looking for our mistake."

Katherine: "Hehe yeah... don't call Y/N that."

David: "Ok. Tell me, Katherine."

Katherine: *exhales "You want me to tell you why I had Y/N in my house?"

David: "Yes. Tell me. Why was she in a diaper? Why was she in a room similar to a child's? Why the toys, and the stuffed animals? Did she want to live with you?"

Katherine: "..."

David: "Honey..."

Katherine: "Fine. I'll tell you. A week after I left you after our argument, I went to visit my mom."

David: "Ok. And how did that go?"

Katherine: "Now bad, now don't interrupt me. When I arrived, mom was more than happy to see me. She asked me where my daughter was. When I told her she graduated and left for college immediately, she was upset she couldn't see her. The more we talked, the more she would talk about our past together after dad died. We would talk about our secrets of curses, family history, and our fond memories."

David's mind: (Curses, what the hell?)

Katherine: "After we talked for what seemed like hours, I told her I needed to do something important. She was a nut before I left, she even offered me and my baby to stay with her for as long as she wanted."

David's mind: (Wait. All SHE wanted? Who, Y/N, or your mother?)

Katherine: And that was the moment I wanted to make things right. I wanted fond memories too. And yeah, I chose to treat her like an infant, so what?"

David: "Well, that only makes sense, but not by a long shot. 20 years too late Katherine. She's 18 now, she should be out on her own, doing what she wants. That's how life works. And I really do think it's for the best, don't you?"

Katherine: "Ok, first off. She's 20, going to 21 in about a couple days, you bimbo! And she's my daughter! I'll do what I want with her! And I think she's happy right where she's at!"

David: "Yes, she's your daughter, but even that's not really a good reason. Besides, I brought you here for my reason. And this is what I want; I want you to go back home, let Y/N out, and let her live on her own. Then WE are going to live together here, just as it should have been. Just you and me. I'm trying to help you."
