Chapter 12: "Next Destination"

Y/N's POV:

Never in my life have I been so happy to see them! We just hugged it out while dad was driving us... somewhere. He was still coming up with a plan. I don't care what he has in mind, as long as I'm away from those psychos. Adam kept kissing me on the cheek, while Jasmine was hugging me. We were all tearing up, my reason because I thought mom killed them. All of them!

David: "Let it out kids. And make it quick."

Adam: "Sorry if were bothering you while you're thinking. We're just..."

David: "Don't be sorry bud. I would be the same... Oh hey, look! Convenient store up ahead.  If you want, you guys can get whatever you want, I'll pay for it. And get as much as you need. We're gonna be moving a lot."

Y/N: (How does he have money on him?)

Jasmine: "You don't half to David."

Dad didn't respond. We stopped by the store, mostly so dad could also refuel his car. While Adam and Jasmine went inside to grab what they want, I stayed outside with dad while he was filling the car up. I didn't want anything to eat. I'm kind of full anyway.

While dad was waiting for the gas to be done, and I felt like talking to him. I wasn't sure on what to say, but I decided to start small. We'll try to start a conversation.

Y/N: "Thanks..."

David: "What?"

Y/N: "Thanks for getting me out of there dad."

David: "Anything for you sweetheart. I have never wanted you to be stuck with that woman. Even after you were born, I noticed how attached Katherine was getting to you. I knew it was bad news."

There was a long pause after that so-called "conversation", and I decided to break the silence again and keep talking. So, might as well cut to the chase.

Y/N: "Why did you save me? I thought you hated me?"

Dad looked up at me with guilt in his eyes.

David: "I never did. Though I don't blame you for getting that idea. Especially after that day I came over, and... grabbed you by your hair. Sorry."

Y/N: "Then why did you..."

David: "I shouted at you out of anger and confusion. But I was more angry with Katherine. Yeah, I know, not an excuse. But I was praying Katherine didn't have you in her grasps. But I was wrong."

Y/N: "Was I ever gonna in any danger if I was living with mom?"

David: "No, we were in danger. She's a yandere Y/N.'

Y/N: "A what?"

David: "A yandere is an obsessive person who can be driven to kill to keep the person they love in their clutches. Katherine is a yandere. So is Eileen. It's an effect, and it passes down from generation to generation, though that can change. There's a lot more to them, but I'll explain some other time."

Y/N: " You just said it passes down from generation. Does that mean I'm one of them?"

David: "You shouldn't be. You haven't had a super long exposure to Katherine, at least, I think. I've lost track. But with Eileen also joining, it's hard to tell. If you were with them any longer though, you too would be a yandere towards anyone you love dearly. You could put Adam or Jasmine at risk."

Y/N: "Is there a cure for this?"

David: "There never was. We always assumed it was long exposure to a yandere, or another way to become a yandere is something yanderes do to others calling the "convincing". It's just been a mess for the past hundreds of years. You can blame a witch for all this."
