The dry air-conditioning. The warm atmosphere of the people sitting in silence. The slight scent of dust. The musician sitting in front of his black piano. The calm and soothing melody ringing throughout the concert hall.

That was something that Eve had grown used to hear. His childhood friend who lived to play music. Who played everything perfectly, always stood tall even when things didn't work or when people were talking behind his back as they were tainted with the ugly colors of jealousy.

To Eve, Soraru was his inspiration to continue his passion of finding colors. Because both of them were the same. Crushed by both the expectations of their parents and the jealousy of their rivals.

Even when they might have it hard, they still had each other and their passion. But one day, after the once so strong pianist broke down on stage, something small in Eve shattered as well.

But it wasn't because of the performance exactly. He would have done his best to help the older male to recover. He would have did everything so they could continue to run towards their respective dreams.

But only a few days after the incident, Eve felt something in him break as well.

Unlike Soraru, his incident wasn't noticeable. But it still left a scar on him. Because he, a monochrome artist, got betrayed by his own people.

A few days after the piano competition, the mushroom-haired male had to go to an art contest where the prize was firstly money and secondly, the opportunity to get a whole gallery just for their own art. Eve wasn't interested about the money but the latter, wanting the colorblind people to be able to enjoy art just dedicated to them.

But he never even got the chance to participate in the contest.

His upperclassmen who were in the same club as him had sabotaged him on that day, locking him up inside the storage room after lying to him about needing some more supplies.

The oh so famous monochrome artist who everyone was looking forward to, never appeared.

And in the end, Eve didn't take a step forward but backwards as he fell further away from fulfilling his dream.

If that had been all, the mushroom-haired male would have been fine. But on that day, when he had been locked in the dark, small storage room, Eve could see nothing but black.

And something in him shattered when he was not only not able to see colors. But not able to see anything at all.

The upperclassmen who locked him in got reported and punished. But all Eve could focus on, was the fact that the world seemed even more lifeless than before.

And for the next three years, he lived through that even darker world.

He never said it but Eve only continued art for the sole purpose of having something in his life. He had long given up on being able to see colors again.

It wasn't until one day, when he got to see something else other than the usual grey, black and white.

Like some shining sapphires in the middle of a dark cave. Those blue eyes which were staring at him. It felt like he had found light after many years of darkness.

And on that day, Eve felt that maybe being able to see colors again, wasn't impossible after all.

But it wasn't only that.

The dry air-conditioning. The warm atmosphere of the people sitting in awe. The slight scent of dust. The former pianist, who no one thought would ever play again, sitting in front of his black piano.
