May got up in the middle of the night. She went out to get a warm cup of milk.

Go back inside.

She set the cup on the table, but she started to feel chills on her back.

Move.

May reached for the knife.

"Can't cut." The same, raspy voice repeated.

MOVE!

May grazed her arm with the knife. Even though it was a graze, it still hurt like crazy. But, the pain woke May up, and she readied her arms with water and sand.

"You're not afraid of hurting yourself?"

May couldn't feel the chills anymore. "Of course. This is a dream, after all. I won't actually get cut."

She heard a hoarse sigh. "I've lost. Go back. But know the line between dream and reality will become more and more faded."

May woke up, staring at the bedroom ceiling. She got up, checking her arm. No cut. But, something was different about the shadow.

The way he spoke felt more... Coherent. It wasn't broken up words, but actual sentences.

"You didn't have the dream again, did you? You woke up in a cold sweat."

May saw Owen, stuffing things into a backpack. "Well, I did, but I got over it in the dream."

Owen smiled. "Oh really? That's good, that's good. So you won't be having that dream for a while, huh?"

"No, I guess not. Anyway, what are you doing?"

Owen put a book into the backpack. "Getting your stuff for your first day of school. Can't have you forgetting anything."

May got up, leaning against the wood frame of the window.

"Nervous?"

She sighed, staring off at the school flag in the distance. It waved in the air, and yet stood tall. "Yeah, I guess. But hey, going to a new school is always nerve-wrecking."

Owen put in a pencil case. "But, believe me or not, I think you'll really enjoy the school. It's really a nice place."

"When do we have to go?" May asked.

"Soon, so you should probably change."

May grabbed her clothes, and went into the washroom. Owen sighed, staring up at the ceiling. They had known each other for a few months, and it was good to know she's opened up a bit more. Maybe a bit too much, that it made Owen uncomfortable sometimes. Although May doesn't want to admit it, she does trust them more.

May came out, wearing a red shirt.(I should probably say things other than colors, but hey I'm not a fashion expert so help) "How do I look? Gotta leave a good impression for my first day, huh?"

Owen shrugged. "Sure, but the teachers definitely have something planned for that already."

"They do?"

Owen scratched his head. "Well, I'm not sure if I should be telling you this, but they like to test students to see their personalities. And I'm sure you're no exception."

"So first impressions for personality too, huh?"

"But don't stress out about it!" Owen reaffirmed. "I'm sure you'll pass with flying colors."

"I suddenly got much more stressed out."

Owen got up. "Well, to ease your nerves, how about we go to the school?"
