Owen clapped his hands. "Then, let's go!" He hopped onto a bike that was leaning on the side of the wall, then gestured for May to get on. She hopped onto the back seat, and Owen went pedaling along the dirt road. Their hair waved in the wind, and May looked around. It was strange how the different buildings were in entirely different eras, but they seemed to fit together. People walked around, heading to home, or going to a market on the right. There were no cars, only scooters, bikes, skateboards, and some other things she was pretty sure people had made themselves. Owen waved to someone.
"Hey Jean!" Owen shouted. Jean was a boy with blonde hair, and he had a sharp look to him that seemed to see through everything.
"Hey Owen!" Jean responded. He saw May riding on the back seat, and he grinned. Why? May was worried as to where she was headed, and what was going to happen when she arrived.
Owen slowed down, braking in front of a large building. It had large windows, and revolving doors. There was a dome on the left, and the entire building was 4 floors high.
May gawked at the sight. "Are you sure you didn't take me to a mall?"
Owen grinned. "Malls look much better than this."
So what did malls look like? Castles or something? Owen hopped off the bike, and May followed. Going through the revolving doors, May nearly fell over at the sight. Students laughed in a cafe, and other students were reading in a library. Large rooms with glass walls were all over the first floor. This didn't feel like a school. This felt more like a hotel. But strangely, Owen didn't speak the entire way as he navigated through the school. He turned left, going through some double doors. Double doors lined the wall of the first lobby, probably even more paths to go through. This place felt like a maze, as they went deeper and deeper. Then, Owen opened a single blue door for her.
"This is where the principal office is. He likes to be isolated, so he set up this hard way to get to him. They'll probably let you in soon, so just sit down for now."
May locked her fingers together, looking at the ground. Owen put a reaffirming hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry! I'm sure you're already accepted."
May offered a light smile. "Thanks, fellow classmate."
Owen winked, and went back through the double doors. May went through the door, sitting down. This was a different room, a rough, concrete hallway. She sat on a rough, plastic chair. May was uneasy. Why did Owen wink? It gave off the same vibe as Jean smirking, almost as if they were waiting for something entertaining to happen to her. What was going to happen? She heard voices above her speaking. What was happening? May almost wanted to get up, but she stopped herself.
Don't be a dummy. May scolded herself. They're welcoming you!
Welcoming. The last thing she would have expected on this planet. She's going to be welcomed as a daughter and a student. The voice above was getting louder. They said something about 'new student'. Were they talking about her? But the office is to her left. Maybe it's something else. Under her was the faint sound of creaking. Almost like... Something moving. It took too long for her to realize, but the seats started to rise in the air. No, the FLOOR was rising up. May tried to escape, but she couldn't move past the rising floor. It was one of those barriers! Where were they taking her? She still had the knife in her back pocket, so she sat back down to act as if she was complying. A lab? Wherever they were taking her, she would be ready.
Everyone was clapping. Why was everyone clapping? She was on a stage. There was a man with white hair next to her, with a stand in front of him. Even though he had white hair, he was still fairly young.
