Alan and Guardian were off to leave their new friends behind for a blind future. They were traveling with two of the people from the village, which were now heading to a nearby port that would take three days until they arrive. Alan sat down restfully, asking Guardian why they were heading to a port. Guardian responded, “ Our adventure together is brought by a series of events that will help you learn your fox instincts, which will make you worthy of being called the Fox God.” Alan, being curious of his awaiting adventure asks, “Do you know what will become of me if I fail to become the God of the foxes? Will I be a beggar? A thief? Or if I learn to hold this power within me, will I become a tyrant mad with power?” Guardian looked at Alan with a serious appearance and said, “ Child, you will become none of those horrid realities, for your destiny was already made before your birth, I am here to ensure that you will fulfill your role in this life and further beyond death.” Alan responded with, “ I’m glad to have such a guardian as my friend through this life,” Alan showed a welcoming smile to Guardian, believing Guardian will be at his side even when death appears. Guardian said to Alan, “ Child, if you believe you are alone and hold a responsibility that tears you from inside, you are not alone, to your surprise there are gods just like you in this world giving men and women hope around the world.” Alan began to feel excited and was about to ask Guardian who they were, but they heard one of the men yell. [Man] “ THERE’S SOMETHING COMING TO OUR RIGHT!” Alan and Guardian looked to the right of the carriage quickly and saw a herd of dirt and heard noise coming down from a hill. One of the men whipped the horses to get away, but a child in a small wagon shot out from the hill hitting one of the back wheels of the carriage, causing it to crack and tip to the side, while the child fell out of her wagon during impact. The men alongside Alan and Guardian jumped out of the carriage worried and angry. They saw the child get up without major injuries but for their carriage, the wheel was shattered. The two men were upset and began to yell at the child for breaking their carriage. Alan went to the child, having one knee down asking if she was hurt and what her name was. The child replied, “I’m ok, my name is Emily Reverend, I’m sorry I broke your wheel but my father can fix it, he’s a craftsman.” With no other option they decided to let the girl lead them to her home so that their carriage would be fixed. They grabbed their fruits and vegetables from the carriage and began to put them in baskets, they then followed Emily into the forest to get their carriage fixed. Alan, forgetting what to ask of Guardian, began to ask Emily why her family lives deep within the woods, she said, “My father was thrown out of the city for not working for the king, my father knew what kind of man the king was and would not let his unique inventions be laid to harm the innocents, my father was taught at a young age from an unusual inventor and became his apprentice until the strange man left, my father now lives his best to surpass his mentor and will not let anyone take control of his inventions.” Alan was surprised to know that such a man exists in a world full of pain and sadness, but the thought of the man made Alan believe he can be the man in this world to give hope and care, Alan began to feel motivated and asked Emily more questions about her father’s work. He asked every possible question she could answer, until everyone saw a woman gardening near a cabin. The woman saw her daughter with what she thought to be strangers who mugged her daughter and wanted ransom for her. The mother ran inside and called her husband. Emily called out, “MOM!” but to their surprise they saw a man with a sort of a small cannon in his hand, aiming it at the group, he told them to let his child go, Emily, seeing this ran to her father telling him the situation, the father began to lower his hand with the cannon and apologized to the group, he offered them tea inside his home. The group went inside his home and sat, telling him the entire situation, the father apologized for his daughter and accepted to go back to look at the damage his daughter caused. Once the father saw the broken wheel, he was furious with his daughter for breaking the wheel, then began to tell the group it would take a week for him to make a new wheel. The village men were upset, they said they needed to get to the port in three days or they could not sell their harvest. The father said, “There is a way to get to the port within three days, but there is a cost,” the men alongside Alan and Guardian were confused, they knew there was only one road to the port and they could not make it on foot. Emily said, “ What my father says is true, but we do not recommend it,” The two men eagerly asked, “How do we get there?” the father said, “There is a witch within the woods, we do not associate with her because she is indeed a witch to be feared for.” A sudden chill came over the men and Alan, but for Guardian, he was terrified.
