A lone man walked through a backstreet, slipping his hand into his pocket to fumble through the contents. The man felt an exhale blow happily out of his nose as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes, staring down at the beige pack as he flipped it open to find three of the cancer sticks left within. The male plucked one from the package and closed it once more, tucking it back in his pocket as she stopped to fish through his pocket once more.
???: Maybe my luck isn't so shitty after all...
The male mused as he searched for a lighter. It was then the male felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up, right before a hand gripped his shoulder from behind.
???: Oi pal you've just made me a very happy man!
The male responded in a dry tone, already annoyed tone.
???: Yeah I've just come into some money! so if you could hand over all the cash on you we can make my happiness a reality.
The figure behind the male spoke in a condescending tone that irked the figure as he glared over his shoulder.
???: Is that so...
???: Damn... the asshole could have at least had a light on him.
The male stood up once more from the crumpled heap before him. The figure that the hand belonged to now on the ground with his head resting against a wall, his face smashed horribly as blood leaked from his nose and mouth. The near-robber was still breathing though only barely, his injuries quite severe as the male stood up began walking in the direction he had originally charted for his journey, now looking for a lighter along the way. Gathering all of his rotten luck, the male in desperate need for a smoke only managed to make a few steps before another distraction stopped him.
???: Sir? Please turn around.
The male let out a long sigh before looking over his shoulder at... oh boy... a cop. The male decided to see if he could push this bad luck of his by walking a few more steps.
Cop: Oi I said turn around!
The cop barked, training a flashlight on the male. The male tried to calm his breathing, feeling his already strained nerves thinning to a snapping point. His hand lifted to his lips, pulling the cigarette away from them before looking over his shoulder, the light gleaming off of his (H/c) eye...
You awoke with a start, rubbing your real eye as you analyzed your surroundings. Yep. you were still on the bus. The start of the summer camp of sorts was not too far off, just a bit further down the road as you rested your head back against the seat, running your left hand through your (H/c) hair.
???: Oi.
You felt someone poke your cheek. Your eyes blinked softly before you turned to see who it was, your eyes meeting those of Mina Ashido's.
(Y/n): Oh uh hey Mina... I don't really remember sitting next to you.
Mina: Man you really knocked out on the trip here didn't you?
The girl giggled a bit, all the while you stretched in the confines of your seat, working the sleepiness out of your muscles as a yawn racked through your body. As you finished your stretch, you directed your eyes outside at the surroundings, watching the trees and hills in the distance as you made your journey before the pink girl spoke once more.
Mina: You know... you've kinda changed.
(Y/n): What do you mean? We don't really hang out too too much for you to-
Mina: I can tell from your eyes.
That sentence managed to pull your gaze away from the outside world as you returned to look Mina in her yellow irises.
Mina: Well um... eye...
She spoke awkwardly as a sigh racked through you, the same disgusting feeling your body as your eye was pointed out again.
Mina: I dunno... when we first met you had this bright attitude and always took charge. You were kinda like those heroes in manga.
(Y/n): Oh yeah? Guess I remembered I live in the real world.
Mina: Huh?
Mina seemed to be confused by your statement as your hand unintentionally reached up and gripped her shoulder.
(Y/n): Life caught up with me Mina. I tried to be the hero and fell short time and time again. Hell, I shouldn't even be in the hero course... the real world doesn't give you hero points for nearly cracking your skull open. I... hah...
Another sigh filled your body as your hang unclenched from the girl's shoulder. Before you could retract your hand your wrist was gripped by the girl, Mina taking extra precaution, not to you know accidentally melt your hand off. Then as the girl looked into your eyes, she puffed out her cheeks and used her free hand to poke your face.
Mina: Don't go getting all sad! I'm just saying you grew up is all. We all did! Heck if anything you're acting more like a knight in shining armor.
The girl giggled as a feeling filled your chest. Eh... you're getting pretty emotional these days. A dry feeling filled your throat as you thought about her words.
(Y/n): A knight, huh... I've been pretty terrible then. I don't even have armor anymore.
Mina: Well there is that... still I'll rely on you, ok? Just don't go acting all dramatic like that.
That feeling once more hit your chest. Why was this happening though, you thought. You and Mina don't even hang out that much. She's off to the side in her own world and you in your messed up one and yet... Your hand reached out to almost rest against the girl's soft pink cheek. You managed to catch yourself before you could do something stupid only for the girl to playfully place her cheek against your palm, your body freezing up as you looked away.
(Y/n): Come on don't do something weird like that.
Mina: Then you stop being weird, cause then I won't have to counter your weirdness with my own!
You wanted to refute that your weirdness was in response to hers but the bus finally seemed to reach its destination, screeching to a halt as Mineta rushed past you, clearly in need of something as you and the other students filed off the bus. It was there that your eyes caught sight of the Class 1-B. Wait they came on this trip too? Gah, you must have really been out of it before coming on the bus.
Mina: Come on slowpoke!
Mina called out to you as she tugged you along by your wrist.
Mina: Hurry up before I got telling people you slept my shoulder and drooled~
(Y/n): I did what?!
You called after her as she quickly stepped off the bus, leaving you to think over the implications as you gave chase. A pair of black eyes watched this though, curious as to what exactly was going on as she examined the two of you, a strange feeling filling her chest.
A/n: And now the summer camp is beginning! Our young hero has arrived with his friend and after all that has happened to him, could this event spark a massive change for the boy? I guess we will have to see through the following chapters~ But for now, know that our young lad has garnered the attention of a certain pink female and will be meeting some uh... young at heart female heroes as well. Till the next update, happy reading all, and please don't be afraid to leave your feedback!
