Cooling Off

Your tired gaze examined the small case in your hands. Prying it open, your half-human half mechanical gaze looked upon the glasses that had caused you to lose in the first place. The reason your eyes was now probably in some dumpster somewhere rather than in your head. An irritated sigh exhaled through your nose as you once again found yourself upset. A part of your tired mind wanted to further destroy the frames and glass, but you forced yourself to close the case before you did something your hand would more than likely regret.

(Y/n): What the hell is wrong with me...?

It wasn't a question truly directed to anyone, not even yourself. You were no fool to not notice the changes you had undergone. You were much quicker to anger than you had ever been and you just did not feel as mentally sound as you once were. You ran a hand through your (H/c) locks before lying back onto your bed.

(Y/n): Maybe... gah what am I thinking...

You hadn't laid back to long before you lifted yourself back up to a seated position, thinking over something in your head.

(Y/n): I could try seeing a therapist I suppose. It certainly wouldn't be free but... it's better than going down this path. I don't want anyone to see me like this. Not Tsu, not Himiko, nor anyone in Class 1-A. I...

You paused for a moment in your passionate rant, feeling a bit of adrenaline seep into your veins.

(Y/n): I don't want them to see me at my lowest point again...

???: Are you sure you don't want them to just look at you like a weakling?

You jumped at the sound of a voice, you quickly examined your room to find the one and only masked man himself, Jack, flipping through one of your books in the corner.

(Y/n): What are you doing here?

Jack: What, I can't drop in on an old friend? It's been awhile since we last chat pal!

(Y/n): I'm not your friend, now why are you here?

Jack: I heard you talking to yourself again and thought I might as well stop you from going crazy by talking to you.

You ran your hand through your hair once more.

(Y/n): Maybe I am developing a mental disorder.

Jack: Oi, don't call me a mental disorder! Look at everything I've helped ya with!

(Y/n): and that proves I've been listening to the voice in my head too, pretty sure that is bad too.

Jack let out a long sigh before closing the book and setting it down. He moved closer to you, setting down on the edge of your bed opposite to you, his masked face staring over his shoulder at you.

Jack: Look kid, you might think everything I've done so far is weird but I'm looking out for you.

(Y/n): I don't need some random masked stranger looking out for m-

Jack: You're feeling angry, right?

Your sentenced paused as Jack spoke. You went to respond to his sentence only to find no words. You moved to adjust your seat, swinging your legs off the bed to sit on the edge with your back to Jack. Why you decided to do this, you didn't truly know.

Jack: I know what you're feeling, kid. An intense rage is filling you up as the world chews you up and spits you out.  The heroes set you aside for not having a strong quirk, instead focusing on the kids who will be in the top 10 when they are older. And where does that leave you? A broken mess on the sidelines, left as a chew toy for the wild dogs that is society.
