I have no idea what Edaline's maiden name is so we're pretending it's Dizznee.

With that, Sophie turned on her heel and ran. She knew exactly what her answer was, but her social skills weren't exactly good enough for her to comfortably reject him. Or to do much of anything for that matter.

She ended up at the beach, near a bench she had spent a lot of time on when she had been alone. It had always given her comfort, for some unknown reason. When she reached it, she collapsed into sobs, and the worst part was, she didn't know or even understand why.

Eventually the tears dried up, and she ran her fingers over the carvings that had given her so much comfort over the years.

GR+ED

She now knew it was Grady Ruewen and Edaline Dizznee, but she couldn't explain why she had felt drawn to the marks in the first place. There were hundreds of other carvings, some couples, some curses. But Grady and Edaline's had always made her feel better when she felt especially lonely.

She was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she nearly screamed bloody murder when she felt a hand rested gently on her shoulder.

Instead she tackled the person and pinned them to the sand.

"Whoa, whoa, relax Foster!" She gasped when she realized it was Keefe and immediately helped him up. He was laughing at her. But he stopped when he saw her red eyes. "Whoa, what happened? And where did you learn that move because it was seriously awesome." His brows creased when she didn't laugh, or even smile. "Foster what's wrong?" He whispered.

She looked away, embarrassed because she didn't even know.

Keefe took her hand. "It's okay not to know, if that's what you're thinking." He said softly. "You've had a rough few months, what with your world flipping on its head, and Fitz." Keefe said his name as though it were a curse, not caring that they both knew Fitz had been acting.

Sophie stared out over the ocean. "Thanks Keefe." She squeezed his hand, and thought she saw a faint blush spread over his cheeks. She wrote it off as her brain playing tricks on her.

"So Foster, what do you say we head back and I can tell the others all about how I, Supreme Lord Keefe, saved your life from the, uh, water." Keefe proclaimed, probably trying to get a laugh out of her.

She gave him a small smile, thinking that would have to do for now. "Actually, I'd like to stay here for a while. It's always helped me clear my head and sort out emotions."

Keefe gave a dramatic sigh. "Fine, Foster. If you insist, I will stay here with you to give the best company anyone could ask for."

She sighed and gave another small smile. "We'll see about that."

"Oh it's so on, Foster." Keefe had taken her words as a challenge. She decided it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to just sit there with him, even if it felt a little strange. She'd never been alone with a boy she actually liked, friend or otherwise. Though Keefe was a friend, so she decided it was okay, for now.

"Come, sit." She made her way over to the bench and sat down, pulling Keefe along with her, and for a while they just sat there, admiring the beauty of the ocean. "Isn't it beautiful?" She asked him.

"Yes," he breathed. "But don't worry Foster, not as beautiful as you." He smirked over at her, and laughed when her cheeks flushed a deep red. "I'm only teasing, though you are cute when you blush. Oh! There you go again. Man I could do this all day." Sophie sat there while Keefe rambled on, making her blush every other sentence.

"Keefe!" That got his attention. "Can we just watch the sunset? I still need to sort out and think about things." She felt the tears prick her eyes again and turned away, not wanting him to see her so vulnerable.

"Hey, Foster," Keefe wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "Of course we can." Sophie gave in and rested her head on his shoulder, realizing she had someone to comfort her, for the first time in her life.

And it felt amazing.

This chapter feels like it was so bad and I don't really know why. But anyways, enjoy! Also not edited so yeah.
