Zed wrapped Autumn in a hug as the tears flowed down his face. The judge had just declared that Zed was in fact going to keep Brooklyn and Zed and Autumn couldn't be happier. Over the last few months Autumn and Brooklyn had built a relationship and Autumn knew that she would never replace Eve, but she was glad that her and her fiance would get to raise Brooklyn together. Once done at court Zed and Autumn grabbed Brooklyn from daycare and headed out to work on some wedding stuff for their wedding in 2 months. Brooklyn was just excited that they picked her up early and that she got to help taste cake for the wedding! It was all she could talk about for the rest of the day. After cake testing and running a few more errands they headed home and Autumn and Brooklyn laid down for a nap while Zed started working on dinner. While Zed was working on dinner he started worrying about Autumn and how much she had been sleeping and not feeling well lately. He hoped all this wedding planning wasn’t stressing her out to where she was getting sick. Once he had dinner in the oven Milo went to check on Autumn and Brooklyn. He found Brooklyn sound asleep in their bed, but no Autumn, then Zed saw their bathroom door slightly opened. He walked over and found Autumn on the floor by the toilet. “Hey babe are you ok?” He calmly asked as he moved to sit down beside her. “I don’t know. My head is pounding and I feel sick to my….” before she could finish her sentence Autumn leaned over Zed as she emptied the contents of her stomach into the toilet. Zed quickly pulled her hair back with one hand while his other one rubbed up and down her back. Zed waited until he was sure Autumn was done before he got up and grabbed her a cool washcloth and glass of water. “Babe, you haven't been feeling good for a few weeks. I think we should have Ty and Zoey come watch Brooklyn and I'll take you in to get checked out. It could just be a bug from you working in the hospital, but I would feel better if we got it checked out.” Autumn could see the look of worry and panic on his face and she knew that he was afraid that something could be wrong with her like there had been with Eve. “Ok” Autumn said as she placed her hand on Zed’s cheek before he helped her up off the floor and back to their bed before calling Ty and Zoey. After about an hour Ty and Zoey got there to watch Brooklyn who was throwing a fir and crying because she didn’t want Autumn and daddy to leave. “He sweetie Aunt Zoey and Ty are going to hangout with you. Daddy has to take Autumn to the doctor, she doesn't feel good, but as soon as we are done we will come back home. Ok?” Zed asked the three year old as she clung to him. “Ok” she sniffled as he set her back down before she ran over to Zoey. Once at the hospital one of Autumn's co workers took her back to run some tests and had Zed wait in the waiting room while they did. After an hour of running tests, Zed was finally able to go back to Autumn’s room. When he entered the room he found Autumn curled up on her side finally getting some sleep, he sat in the chair next to the bed and waited for the doctor to come in, in hopes that everything was ok with her. Two hours later Autumn was still sound asleep when the doctor came in to go over her test results.

“Hi i’m Dr. Oaklyn” “Hi, I'm Zed, Autumn’s fiance. Is she going to be ok?” “Well, I would like to wake her up before I go over her results.” Zed nodded as he gently woke Autumn up. “Hey babe, the doctor just came in to go over your test results.” Autumn slowly opened her eyes before Zed helped her to sit up. "Hi Autumn” "Hi Dr. Oaklyn” “So your test results show a couple of things. First they show that you have a rare blood clotting disorder. It’s good that we found it before you were in a serious accident or anything, but it can cause problems with the next thing the test results showed. Congratulations Autumn you are pregnant!” Autumn and Zed looked at each other and then back at the doctor before looking back at each other. “I-I’m pregnant?!” Autumn asked as tears started to fall down her face. “Yes. You are 1 month along.” “You said that Autumn's clotting disorder can cause problems with her being pregnant though, what kind of problems?” Zed asked as he wrapped Autumn in his arms. “For right now Autumn just needs to take it easy until after she hits her second trimester. Too much activity right now, especially until she gets put on a blood thinner can cause a miscarage, but it would be worse with Autumn's bleeding, because unlike a normal miscarage Autumn would lose more blood than normal. As the pregnancy goes on there is always the risk of preeclampsia or issues with the placenta, but Autumns are much higher risk with the clotting disorder. I want to get Autumn an appointment tomorrow with a Hematologist to go over everything about her clotting disorder and what med she can take while pregnant, because it will change once she has the baby. Also I want to get her an appointment tomorrow with an ob/gyn, so that they can start monitoring her and the baby.” “Ok. What about work?” Autumn asked as Zed gave her an “NO WAY IN HELL!!” look. “Normally I would say no work until your second trimester, but because you work in my department here in the ER, I would feel ok with you being here where we know you and can watch you if something happens, but I would wait and see what Hematology and ob/gyn say tomorrow.” “OK.” After Dr. Oaklyn left the room, the nurse came in with the discharge papers and Zed took Autumn home. Zoey had texted Zed while the doctor was in the room and told him that Brooklyn was asleep and her and Ty were just going to sleep in the guest room for the night. Once they got home Zed and Autumn headed straight to bed, they were both exhausted and had to be back to the hospital in the morning for Autumn’s appointments.

“Come here!” Zed cooed as he pulled Autumn closer to him as they climbed into bed. Zed slowly pulled up her shirt before placing his large hand on her still very flat stomach. “Were going to have a baby!” Zed whispered as he smiled down at Autumn while he rubbed his thumb over her bare stomach. “I know! I know we wanted to wait until after the wedding, but the wedding is in 2 months! I doubt I'll be showing by then. I think we should wait and just tell everyone after the wedding.” “Whatever you want and will make you less stressed is what we will do babe.” Zed whispered before kissing the top of her head and pulling her into his chest as they drifted off to sleep. The next morning Autumn knew that they would have to tell Zoey what was going on when they asked her to watch Brooklyn again. “Hey Zoey can you please watch Brooklyn again for us? Autumn has an appointment the doctor made for her last night.” “Is everything ok?” “Zoey you cant tell anyone” Autumn said as she gave Zed a knowing look. “I won't.” “We found out that i’m pregnant, but we also found out that I have a clotting disorder and it can make the pregnancy very dangerous, so I have to go see a couple of specialist today” “OMG Congratulations!! Once at the hospital Zed and Autumn filled out her paperwork before the nurse called them back to a room. Once in the room two doctors came in to talk to them. “Hi, i’m Dr. Carter. I will be your ob/gyn throughout your pregnancy.” “Hi, I'm Dr. Wright. I will be your Hematologist from here on out.” Zed and Both looked at each other before acknowledging the two doctors. “Let’s start with an ultrasound and then we can talk,'' Dr. Carter said as she motioned for Autumn to sit on the exam table and pull her shirt up. Autumn was in a daze as Dr. Carter put the gel on her and moved the wand around until a small blob popped up on the screen. “There is your baby! It looks like you are 1 month along!” Once Dr. Carter was done with the ultrasound, Zed and autumn followed Dr. Wright to her office down the hall to talk about Autumn’s new condition. “I looked over your papers from the ER last night. Autumn I know you work in the hospital, have you ever heard of a clotting condition called lipoprotein little a?” “Yes.” “That is the clotting disorder that you have. It is very treatable with blood thinners, but we have to be careful about what one we give you during your pregnancy, so while you are pregnant we will give you Lovenox. It is an injection that you will do two times a day either in the arm, leg, or hip. We will also have you check your blood count everyday with a glucose monitor as pregnancy can alter your levels, but Lovenox can as well. I will see you in clinic twice a month until you are in your third trimester or your levels spike, then I will see you every week. Me and Dr. Carter have a combined clinic on Mondays, so we will just book you appointments for Mondays unless something changes. Do you have any questions?” “Last night Dr. Oaklyn said that I could continue to work as long as I was careful. She said normally it is recommended with my condition to not work too much until I hit my second trimester, but she said she is comfortable with me working, because I am on her service.” “I am fine with that as long as you take a break when you feel you need it or stay home if you are not feeling well.” “OK. Babe do you have any questions?” Autumn asked as she looked over at Zed. “No! I’m just listening to everything to make sure that I know what to do and what to watch for” He said before kissing the top of her head. “Alright then, I will send your script to the pharmacy, do your first shot tonight and then two every day after. I will see you back next month!” 

After the appointment Zed stopped to pick up Autumn's script before heading home. Once home Zed made dinner and gave Brooklyn a bath before putting her to bed while Autumn got ready for bed. “Hey babe can you help me with my shot please?” “Yup” Zed answered as he walked into the bedroom. He got the needle ready and inserted it into her hip. Autumn winced at the pricking feeling from the needle. “All done” “Thanks babe. That hurt more than I thought it would.” “Aww here let me help!” Zed said before slapping the area where he just did her injection causing Autumn to scream as she jumped. “What the hell Zed!” “I was just trying to make it feel better” Zed laughed before going to take a shower. “You will pay for that Necrodopolis!” Autumn hollered before climbing into bed and falling asleep.

I hope everyone enjoyed this update! The condition I gave Autumn is a real medical condition, it's rare but it is real and I have it, so I will be using a lot of my experiance with the disease and blood thinners for her character!
