I Tried To Warn You

Gus sat with his flags as he watched his friends run onto the field. Willow and Luz waved at him as they ran by, while Amity gave him a solid nod. He sat on the bleachers closest to the banshees. Boscha looked up at him from the field. She shook her head and got back to work. Holding a clipboard  and whispering into a flower.  Both teams bowed as the Coaches and Captains shook hands. The islands anthem played, echoing throughout the field. After the opening ceremony both teams jogged to their benches in order to get ready. 

After some time, the teams were ready to play. Hexside had 6 players and Boscha as their substitute/coach. The first team was team B : made of Luz, Cat and Emilia. And team A filled with : Amity, Willow and Skara.

Team B, led by Cat ran onto the field. Luz winked at Amity causing the girl to blush. Gus groaned from the love, he was happy for Lumity but he wanted to watch Luz's fist kiss someone's face, not watch Luz kiss someone! The players lined up against Glandus high. Waiting for the officials to start the game. Both sides whispering amongst themselves as they sized the other up. Gus reached into his bag, pulling out the newest addition of 'High School Grudgby : Fall season's up and coming stars.' He began reading about the Glandus high team. The team had six main players and one substitute just like Hexside, (holding seven players total.) The current Glandus high team wore helmets "in order to strike fear into the enemies hearts." On the field was Rising Star Sol, Vice-captain Vio and Senior player Serine. Specializing in Bard, Abomination and Construction respectively.

As soon as Gus finished reading his eyes grew wide, he began yelling at Boscha. "Boscha you need to switch to the A team!"

Boscha looked at him then rolled her eyes, before turning away and talking to Skara.

"Willow! Amity! The current Glandus players are the best at their school!" He yelled jumping up and down in the stands. Trying to get their attention.

"Well duh, their roster is really strong this year." Willow said to Gus not bothering to turn around.

Frustrated Gus threw his magazine at the back of Amity's head.

"Hey!" The girl yelled as she picked the book off the ground. But then Amity stopped, something catching her eyes.

'Yes!' Gus thought pumping his fist into the air as she continued to read his magazine.

Gus peered over the edge, trying to see which enemy Amity was reading up about. Only to see her reading Luz's profile, starry-eyed at the close up of her girlfriend.

"Noooo." Gus moaned as the referee blew her whistle.

Luz was the first to grab the ball, which was a mistake. Vio made a large circle with her arms then pushed her hands through the middle. Making very extra movements at every chance.

Luz ran away with the ball trying to get out of the spells range. But Vio had already finished, a large abomination surging from underneath Gus's friend. Swallowing the human whole.

"Luz!" Amity screamed as she looked up and watched in horror as the love of her life got swallowed. The abomination spat the ball out into Vio's open hand, who threw the ball and scored the goal. Snapping her fingers Vio freed Luz. Who began coughing up abomination goop.

Cat and Emilia rushed to Luz's side, glaring at the Glandus high player. Who made a heart with her hands in response.

"I'm fine." Luz said weakly as she spat out the last of the Abomination goop. Luz wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and stood up. She walked back into the center of the field and reached into her pocket. 

The referee blew her whistle. This time Glandus high player Sol grabbed the ball mid air and began to run away, starting a spell. But then she rammed face first into a wall. Emilia sticking her tongue out at the player. Serine let out a primal scream as she grabbed the ball and created a small ramp in an attempt to jump over Emilia's wall. Luz responded by throwing down a plant glyph and making the wall taller. Which resulted in Serine also ramming headfirst into the wall. Both Glandus players laid on their backs, knocked out on the floor. Luz stuck her tongue out at the players as she grabbed the ball and began to run away. Her legs pounding against the ground, Cat and Emilia running beside her. Luz confidently threw the ball towards the goal, only to miss. An Abomination caught the ball and launched it back to Vio, the older girl scoring another point.

Boscha slammed her clipboard into her face groaning. Luz was a natural athlete but lacked the fine motor skills to send her to the big leagues!

"Didn't Luz say that disappointed feeling in your chest is called : Angry soccer mom who put too much pressure on her 7 year old to make it to varsity.' In the human world." Amity said quoting Luz with a dopey smile.

 Boscha wondered what 'soccer' meant and wrote it down in her notes to ask someone about it later. Then smacked Amity in the back of her head with her clipboard to bring the green haired girl back to reality. But Boscha got depressed again after watching as Luz let the abomination player score another point. She began to scribble more notes into her clipboard. 

"To be fair, that is the Vice Captain." Skara said patting Boscha on the back. As she pointed to the abomination user. 

Boscha looked up from her clipboard. "She's The WHAT?!" Boscha screamed from the top of her lungs. Before stopping to take a deep breath. Trying and failing to center herself. She pointed a finger in the general direction of Vio. "She's the Vice?" She yelled at Skara.

"Didn't you read the latest version of 'High School Grudgby : Fall season's up and coming stars?'" Skara asked pulling the magazine out of her bag.

Boscha grabbed the book and began to read through it. "Why didn't you tell me?" She hissed as she read through the character profiles.

"I DID!" Gus yelled from the stand above them pointing at the magazine in Amity's hands.

"Guys!!" Willow said pointing at the field. The game had continued without them, and both teams had all frozen in place. The only one moving was Sol, her arms swaying back and forth as she skipped to victory.

"Is she singing?" Skara asked perking her ears.

Everyone quieted down, from across the field they could hear soft humming. It's melody was enchanting pulling everyone into a trance. Well almost everyone..

"She stole my trick!" Skara said angry. Not being lulled by the siren.

"Yeah, she did." Willow said horrified.

Amity began to twitch, her fingers trembled at the sight of her hexed friends. The way they had frozen in place reminded Amity of her mother. Boscha walked up behind her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Get ready A-Team, all of you are switching in." Boscha gave the command, then signaled the ref.

"Don't worry Amity, as long as I'm around I can cancel out her songs with mine." Skara said patting Amity on the back. Then the ref blew her whistle.
