Emira knew it was over. As she stood in the forest with tears drippling down her face. It was the mirror, broken in a thousand pieces on the ground. Discarded like trash.
Eleven hours later.
It was 6:00 AM when Skara woke up.
She changed into some sporty clothes and got ready for her daily run. She opened the fridge and grabbed some water. Looking out the window, she realized the sun hadn't risen yet. Skara decided to wait until it came up, but began stretching while she watched TV.
It was 6:30 when her scroll rang. It was Boscha. 'Maybe she wants to join me.' Skara thought to herself excited at the thought of having her running buddie back. She put the phone on speaker and flexed her muscles."Where are you!" Boscha yelled into her scroll.
"At home, watching Tv until the sun rises. Why?" Skara said still stretching.
"Turn Off the Tv!" Boscha yelled.
Startled Skara flipped off the tv and picked up her scroll, turning the speaker off. "Are you okay?" She asked, it had been a while since Boscha had yelled at her like that.
"Whatever you do. Don't go outside! Don't turn on the tv. Switch off your Scroll and stay Inside. Do you understand?!" Boscha yelled the command as something banged on her door. "Promise me! Promise me You wont go outside!" Boscha screamed desperately.
"I promise. Boscha what is going on? Boscha?" Skara asked as the banging grew louder. There was an explosion, from the other side of the line Boscha screamed.
"Boscha!" Skara yelled, jumping to her feet. The chair she was sitting in flew across the room and landed on the floor with a thud. The line cut off. Skara began running towards her door, but stopped. "Boscha said to stay inside." She whispered to herself. She hesitated, her fingers floating above the door. With a sigh, Skara switched off her scroll and sat on her couch. She trusted Boscha, she had to.
It was 12:00 PM when Skara heard a knock at her door.
"Skara open the door, its me." Said a voice.
"Boscha?" Skara asked as she perked up. Skara raced to the door, then froze. "What are you doing here?" She asked her friend.
"Let us in." It was Luz speaking now. Her hands tapped on the door.
"Yeah Skara, let us in." Willow rasped.
"Let us in." Amity said, clawing at the door.
Skara's hands floated above the handle. She hesitated, something was wrong. Boscha never knocked on the door, she always came in with her spare key. Skara took a deep breath. "Boscha quick! What's 3×3÷3+4?" Skara yelled pushing her back against the door.
"7!" Boscha yelled back immediately. Her fist pounding on the door.
"Wrong!" Skara yelled as she jammed a chair under the door handle.
"It's SEVEN!" Boscha screamed, her fist was hitting the door faster now.
"The Real Boscha doesn't know basic math!" Skara yelled. "So you are either a fake or some twisted evil zombie version of Boscha!"
The pounding stopped. Suddenly plants exploded through Skara's front window. Willow crawled through on all fours.
Skara threw a shoe at her friend.
"Why are your eyes bright yellow?" Skara yelled as she threw more things at Willow. Shoes, carpets and sheet music whizzing past the plant witches head.
"Look into our eyes and find out!" Luz yelled as she climbed into the room. Her clothing getting caught on the shards of glass. Luz was bleeding from cuts across her frail human body. The door burst open as Boscha, Gus and Amity stumbled into the room. Skara ran into the kitchen and began throwing plates and vegetables at her friends.
The room was glowing gold. "Look at me!" Boscha said twitching erratically. Her hands reaching for Skara.
Skara's hand grazed a container. The glowing was getting closer. Skara looked at the bottle then at Boscha.
"Join us Skara, Don't you want to be part of the squad?!" Amity said as she got closer. Skara opened the container. "A real part of the team?"
"Join us!" Gus yelled as he twitched toward Skara. The room was fading, Skara could feel something tapping into her mind with every second of eye contact.
Skara took a deep breath, took one last look at her friends. Then poured the bleach onto her eyes.
