Thirty one

What is this place? Grace wondered, it isn't something she can make up with her imagination. The beauty was beyond any magic.

The mauve sky was full of stars big and small, hanging like diamonds in the clear dark sky. The scented wind was flowing and trees were moving in a rhythmic motion as if dancing. She looked around, the place looked like the centre of a meadow but the pool in front of them showed some different scene, it seemed to stretch a little with every glance. The beautiful moon was floating on its surface. In the east the stars were fainting with the breaking of dawn, beautiful orange filled the east sky. It felt as if they were at numerous places all at once.

Every time she looks around something new could be seen, like the field of flowers which she has never seen before, it looked so vast yet so close. There was no sign of life around.

Is it just us here? she looked at Tae his eyes were curiously pale and his mouth hung open in awe. He had a look in his eyes like the excitement a child gets when he has new toys.
At times he looked like a child and at times like a grown man or at least pretending to be one. He has two sides and Grace doesn't even know one properly. She could never get to know him and now she will be ...... how will he react when she tells him they might never meet again.

Grace didn't say a word and got lost in her thoughts. She wanted to come here and she did but something felt off, something is missing but what ?! Like something she has to do but she doesn't know, something important. Her stomach fell into a tight knot a feeling that something is waiting .............something bad.

"Grace" Tae called her and broke her chain of thoughts, his stare was as if he was seeing right through her.

"What..? " she made herself smile.

"I wanted to give you something," he said with a shy little smile.

"Me ?"

"I wanted to .....-for a long time but I was never sure but today I'm certain" he looked way more excited his cheeks were glowing red.

"What..is it ?" Grace asked - confused because he came empty-handed.

And then
He kissed her

He held her like a dessert finally catching rain. Not too tight, like holding a doll in his arms - with so much care. Pulled her close and and brushed his lips against hers. Electricity swept through Grace when his soft lips moved along hers, inhaling every scent of her body. It was a feeling she has never felt before.

This was her first kiss and the most unfortunate.

She opened her eyes sudden rush of tears made her vision blurry "You know I won't stay" She blurted out

"I do.." his voice calmer than the still poolwater

"Then why....!?"

"No reason, I wanted to give you something which can't be destroyed something you can't forget. I wanted to be your .......... first kiss"

"But I can't be with you." It was hard to speak she has so much to say but very little escaped her lips.

"so what ??" He said it like it was no big deal "You know what I regretted the most when you were gone ..... ?" His eyes desperately looked at her, searching for an answer and finding nothing. "Not telling you how I feel before I wasn't sure myself and by the time I found out...... you weren't there"  he gave her an affectionate look and took her hands in his "Grace I don't wanna be just another passerby in your life and the thought that I'm exactly that, makes me so s-so sad ."

"The fact that you and I can't be together... I'm aware of that and I hated that I can never see you again but you came .... in the darkest of the night you came. Showed me this beautiful place which I could never have imagined existed. I just .... know that you are not going to stay but I don't wanna lose you I wanna give you a goodbye. I wanna let you go with a feeling that I was once a part of your life ."

She had no words................................... He knows everything still he smiles like nothing is going on.

"I'm so sorry" was the last thing she could say to comfort him.

"Don't be ... it's not your fault it's no one's fault it's our fate" his smile was apologetic.

'Yes let's blame Fate because we don't have anyone else' to she thought sadly.

A ghost of a smile fitted her lips, to think minutes ago she had her first kiss and with the person she wanted but never knew, he smiled at her.

The feeling over her lips made her blush.

Their happiness was drawing to an end

The way back home was short they didn't let go of their hands, standing in the dim room came the time to see off.

A shadow moved in the corner of the room it made Grace jump back.

A familiar angry voice filled the silent room "And to think I had high expectations for him"

Came forward Grace's father with a mocking smile.
