So, this chapter drastically took a sharp turn in my thoughts. I am now writing completely "off script" so to speak. Being my first story, I thought this might happen but I also thought I had a solid direction all planned out. Obviously, I'm still learning! LOL  I hope you like it!

A week later, Wei Ying, with the help of Jiang Cheng, left to find the village where Wang Xian lived. Because he had not been in his right mind after leaving Wang Xian, it had been more difficult than Wei Ying thought it would be to the find the right place. They had traveled for weeks but every time Wei Ying thought it was the right town, he soon learned it was not. How could he not remember? Everyone always told him he had a bad memory but he never thought they were right. Now he was beginning to believe them.

Jiang Cheng was starting to get frustrated with his brother but held it in because he knew that Wei Ying was also very frustrated. With each disappointment, he could see his brother's hope die a little more.

"Wei Wuxian, we must stop and rest. You're growing tired and so am I. We need sleep and some good food." When Wei Ying did not respond and just kept walking, he said, "Please, brother."

Wei Ying stopped in his tracks. He slowly turned to look into Jiang Chen's eyes, his eyes begging him to keep looking. Jiang Wanyin sighed and lowered his head in defeat. "Fine. One more town and then we rest."

Wei Ying nodded and started walking into the village in front of them. With each step, his heart grew lighter and his smile became more brilliant.

"A-Cheng! This is it! This is the village!"

"Are you sure this is the right one this time?" Jiang Cheng asked tiredly.

"Yes! Yes! I'm sure this time!" Wei Ying spun in a circle, taking in the view as if to confirm his answer.

"Okay, then let's find him quickly and get back home."

A jealous thought flitted through Wei Ying's mind. He didn't want his brother to see Lan Zhan. Not like this. Not as Wang Xian. He wanted to keep Wang Xian all to himself. If others found out about him before Wei Ying could restore his memory, they might take advantage of Wang Xian and Wei Wuxian wouldn't let that happen.

Wei Ying turned to face Jiang Cheng. "A-Cheng, thank you." he said respectfully and bowed. "Without you, I would not have looked for him. I would not have been able to find him. I would have lost my life forever."

Jiang Cheng's heart felt painful in his chest until Wei Ying gave his brother the biggest hug he could manage in his weakened condition. When Wei Wuxian let go, he looked into Jiang Cheng's eyes with a request he didn't have to speak.

"But you want me to go now." Jiang Cheng stated.

Wei Ying gave a small nod and smile.

"Fine." Jiang Cheng said, giving Wei Ying's arm a gentle punch.  "But you better come back to Lotus Cove, with Lan Zhan, and tell me everything that happened. EVERYTHING!" Jiang Cheng shook his finger at Wei Wuxian before turning and disappearing down the dirt road.

Wei Ying muffled a giggle. 'Well, I'll come back but I can't tell you EVERYTHING dear brother.'

A slight blush touched his cheeks as he remembered how both times Lan Zhan left his life, it was after a night of amazing passion. Maybe he should leave Lan Zhan more often. But that thought rapidly left his mind as he started walking towards Wang Xian's home.

It was not long before he was standing at the front door to the small wooden house, his heart fluttering in his chest. What would he say? Would Wang Xian be happy to see him, or would he punch him for leaving? Wei Ying thought it would be the latter so he prepared himself to dodge Wang Xian's powerful fist when it came flying at him.

He knocked lightly on the door and waited. He could not hear any footsteps approaching, even when he put his ear against the door. He knocked louder. Still nothing. Fear started creeping into Wei Ying's mind which he forcibly shoved away by shaking his head.

"Wang Xian!" he shouted, his unease clearly growing.

No sound came from inside the house so Wei Ying quickly trotted around the side of the house to look in the back. But no one was there. No one. His heart started pounding in his chest as he frantically searched the area calling Wang Xian's name. However, the only voice he heard was his own, echoing off the forest trees.

"He probably just went into town for supplies." he said aloud. "Yes, that's it! He's in town."

Wei Wuxian ran so fast it was if he had flown. He was out of breath and his sides hurt so bad when he arrived that he nearly passed out. Taking a moment to recover, his eyes searched the buildings and faces for Wang Xian but he wasn't there. He started asking people if they had seen him, hoping that there was some clue as to where he had gone but no one really seemed to know.

"Have you seen Wang Xian?" he asked the young girl whom he had seen bringing the food when he first saw Wang Xian.

Her face saddened when she replied, "No. I think he left a while ago. No one's seen him for at least a week but he did keep to himself a lot so I don't really know when he left.

Wei Ying's heart dropped. NO!!!!! his mind screamed. "Did you talk to him before he left? Did he say where he might be headed? Did he seem happy to you?" The words left his lips so chaotically he came across like a lunatic.

"No. He didn't say anything about leaving. He did seem a little distracted the last time I visited but when I asked him if something was wrong, he said no. But, I could tell that something was bothering him so I pushed a little and asked if I could help in some way." She paused as if trying to remember something.

"And?" Wei Ying asked desperately.

"And he said, 'Not unless you can tell me where he went.'  I was going to ask him who "he" was but he walked away, up the mountain. I never saw him again."

"Th.....thank.....thank you." he stuttered .

Wei Ying's mind was spinning out of control with what he just heard.

'He went looking for me. He's looking for me.'

Wei Ying started walking away. Where could he have gone? Which direction do I go? How am I going to find him? Have I lost him again? His mind went back to the night he left Wang Xian searching his memories for any clue that might have been spoken between the two. There had to be something! Anything!

"NOT AGAIN!" Wei Ying yelled, clenching his fists.

And then he remembered.

'I'm headed back to Gusu.'  His own words slammed into his mind.  He had told Wang Xian he was a cultivator and that he was going back to Gusu.

'Oh no! He's heading back to Cloud Recesses!'
