Apollo Cabin One-Shots

Sick Day

A sneeze seemed to shake the cabin as Austin jolted awake. Frowning, he peered around the cabin trying to see where the sneeze had come from.
"Bless me, " a voice said thickly.
"Kayla, was that you?" Austin asked.
"Well, Will's still sleeping and it wasn't you so yeah, I sneezed, " Kayla replied as she wiped her nose. Her eyebrows were furrowed and she looked almost as confused as Austin felt.
"I thought we weren't supposed to get sick," Austin exclaimed, starting to get very confused. A pillow flew at his face and bounced towards the floor.
"Austin, shut up! You'll wake Will up, " Kayla hissed at him.

"Too bad, I'm already awake, " Will rolled over and rubbed his eyes. "I wish I wasn't though." Kayla snorted and then began to cough. She looked so surprised that Austin almost laughed. Will sighed and then pushed himself out of bed.
"Kayla, get back into bed. I'll get the medicine, " he ordered as he walked over to the cupboard. Despite being surprised at her sudden illness, Kayla seemed to have accepted it and was almost thankful for it as she snuggled back under her duvet.

Will sat down on the edge of Kayla's bed and handed her the bottle of medicine and a syringe. As she swallowed it, Kayla caught Austin's eyes and screwed up her face. Laughing at her, Austin climbed down from his bed to sit at the end of hers.
"You know what, I think I should have a sick day too, " Austin said as he pushed himself under the other end of the duvet. Kayla giggled and moved over to give Austin more room. Will rolled his eyes as he took the bottle of medicine away but Austin could see him trying not to laugh.

"I would say I'll have a sick day too but someone needs to do work around here, " Will said jokingly as he threw the pillow back at Kayla and Austin. Austin smiled at Will but felt bad; Will was always doing work and looking after them, it didn't seem fair. But when Will dragged a beanbag and blanket next to the bed, no one was surprised.
"Gotta make sure it isn't infectious, " Austin said as he rolled over, accidentally kicking Kayla. Kayla kicked him back and then stuck her tongue out at him.
"Who wants snacks?" Will asked, opening a bag of crisps.
The three of them spent the rest of the day in bed and enjoyed it more than they should've.
