Bethany's POV

Meeting after meeting. Phone call after phone call. Email after email.

It was never ending. I don't think I've had a minute of silence since I walked into the damn office this morning. The closest I came to silence was when I took a bathroom break between the five meetings I had scheduled today. And even then, I had Vanessa sprinting into the bathroom frantically reminding me that I had to finish a business deal by the end of the hour.

I was racing everywhere around the building. I was going from floor to floor, meeting in different rooms and different people trying to get everything under control. I knew it was my fault though. If I hadn't been running around with Harry the past few nights, none of this would have happened. I wouldn't be so behind on sechdule. I had caught up at this point. Sure, it was three hours past the usual time I left, but there was nothing I could do about it now. I had to get work done for the sake of hundreds of thousands of people.

I knew what I was about to do was selfish, and absolutely nuts, but it needed to be done. If I was going to continue enjoying my life, things around here needed to change. I can't spend my every waking moment running around, trying to take care of the company. I knew I needed to be able to have people to fall back on. I needed people that I was able to trust with the future of this company, and that's exactly why I walked down the hallway towards the Vice President of the company's office.

The little gold plate in front of me shined brightly with the reflection of the hallway lights. This was something I never thought I was going to have to do. The name was taunting me as I stared at it. I hated having to ask people for help, but it was just getting to be too much for me. I was young, and I wanted a life that I was able to actually live in. I took one last look at his name before knocking on the door and waiting for him to allow me into the room.

John Galvin was a good man. He was a man I'd always looked up to. Even at the age of 21, I still knew I could look to him for guidance. His physique was anything but welcoming- it was intimidating. He was 6'4 with a lean body. Well, lean for a 60 year old man that is. He didn't exactly look like the friendliest person on the planet, but he was. He was married with three girls for children. Each one were off persuing and all different types of careers. He supported them through anything, no matter what they needed. He told me I could always come to him if I needed anything, and right now was one of those moments.

"Come in." He says, letting me know I can enter.

I make my way into the room to see him sitting at his desk, a book layed out in front of him. He didn't look up as I walked in. He just continued to stare down at the text he was reading. I wanted his attention, so I made an awkward coughing noise, making his eyes snap up to mine. They were an electric blue, staring right into my soul. They were such a lively color compared to the rest of his face. He looked tired and bored. He looked tired of being bored.

"Bethany, what can I do for you?" He gives me a small smile, snapping his book shut and waving for me to take a seat in front of him.

"I have a um, problem I was wondering if I could talk to you about?" For some reason, I feel nervous. I hate asking people for favors. I've always wanted to be so independent, but I couldn't handle this anymore.

"Of course."

"I've been going through a lot recently, which I'm sure you've seen." My small joke makes him chuckle a bit as he nods his head. "Anyways, I'm starting to realize that maybe I need to start worrying more about what I'm doing in my life. I mean for heaven's sake, I was so wrapped up in work, I didn't even realize my damn boyfriend of two years was cheating on me for six months." I wave my hands around frantically, emphazising my point.
