Chapter 8: The First Confrontation

Back in the mortal world, both Anastasia and Lady Frigge looked to the sky.

"The Servants are coming," said Frigge "All warriors! Prepare for combat!"

Woden let out a howl like a wolf once again and the other warriors responded in kind. The people of the village hastily gathered shields, spears, clubs, axes, and swords. They then began to chant war cries, repeating lyrics in a language Anastasia did not understand. They made howls, slammed the butts of their spears into the ground, and banged their shields. Lady Frigge took a spear.

"Priestess Anastasia, when will your sister return?" asked Frigge.

"Soon," replied Anastasia.

"When she does, we will march towards Iceni. That is where the Servants will strike first."

Soon, Illya awoke, she noticed that the yari was now in her hands.

"She's back!" said Anastasia.

"Good," whispered Frigge.

Illya rushed over to her sister and Frigge.

"The Servants are going to attack," she said.

"Yes. We know. We were awaiting your return. We must hurry, the city will most likely be under attack once we arrive," said Frigge "All warriors! To Iceni!"

Illya drew her sword and kept it in her right hand while carrying the yari in her left and laying on her shoulder behind her head.

From the heavens, Servants rained down upon the city. The people of Iceni looked up and screamed. They began running. The Servants killed anyone they came across. They impaled and dismembered people with their spears. A Servant in silver armor with golden wings stepped forward. He had the feet of a hawk. His amor had several parts that revealed his Human-like flesh. He carried a silver longsword in one hand.

"Kill all of the inhabitants! Find the Demigod and take her alive!" he commanded.

The police of Iceni rushed out with their pistols. They took down a few Servants but were soon impaled and torn to shreds. A fire began suddenly and soon the town was ablaze. The warriors soon cleared the forest only to be met by fire, smoke, and bloody and mangled bodies laying on the ground. Frigge snarled.

"Warriors! Today the divine has demonstrated their lack of empathy for mortal kind! They greet us with spears and fire! Today, we strike back against the divine and show them we have a right to exist!" Lady Frigge then howled and the warriors followed suit "Charge!"

Lady Frigge rushed forward with her spear and the warriors charged into town. Woden carried his axe and jumped a Servant, decapitating him. Illya and Anastasia followed behind. Anastasia summoned mana in her hands and fired it at several Servants, killing them. Illya moved fast, finally being able to put her training to the test. She deflected several spears to the side and rushed in with her sword, slashing the Servants in two. She dodged the spears of other Servants but a few grazed her armor and another cut her cheek. She screamed and stabbed the Servant in the neck with the yari. Two other Servants approached and she slashed their throats with a swing of the yari. Soon, more Servants surrounded her.

"Its her! She is the Demigod! We can sense it in her aura! Capture her!" called the Servants.

Suddenly, Lady Frigge appeared and impaled a Servant from behind with her spear. Anastasia appeared, creating a red fireball in her hand, and tossing it at the Servants, igniting them in flame.

"Anastasia! Illya! I will hold off these Servants! Find them commander and take his head!" yelled Lady Frigge as she stabbed another Servant in the chest.
