For the last couple of weeks we have been touring and getting things settled for the case. To be honest with you, I am ready for this shit to be over with. Like you already know this nigga tried to kill me and Griffey. Just throw the motherfucker in jail and give me the key. Shit I'll burn the key down and give it to my daughter as earrings. I feel like once this is done, then we can get back to some normalcy.
We got dressed and loaded up on the plane to Atlanta. The courts wanted to have it there since the incident happened there. We saw Griffey and he was sitting in a wheelchair. It was heartbreaking to see him like that. He was trying to be his old self, but we could tell he was hurting while being in it.
"Hey, what's going on y'all?" Griffey said as we gave him a hug.
"I'm just ready for this shit to be over." Justin said staring at the door.
"Yeah, me too." I said.RhinoS came up to us and asked,
"Y'all ready?"
We nodded and walked inside. To be honest, I hate courtrooms. I've had my fair share of being locked up and standing before the judge. We sat behind Mr. Stokley as he got his paperwork together. Griffey sat on the edge of where we sat and I looked at Justin. He seemed calm until the door opened and in walked Rod in an orange jumpsuit. Justin grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight."J, are you okay?" I asked.
"I-I-I don't know. I need some water." Justin said as he got up and walked out.I went after him and he was holding on to his chest. He was so shook by the sight of Rod that it almost made him faint.
"Breathe, Justin." I said as I put my hand on his shoulder.
"Chris, why are we even here?" Justin asked. "They know he tried to kill us, so throw his ass in jail."
"You know this system is fucked up. They will go through everything to the last letter before throwing away the key." I said.
"This is some bullshit!" Justin shouted as he hit the water fountain.
"Relax. You got people staring at us. Let's just go in here and get this over with." I said trying to lead him back in the room.We walked in and the room was silent. As we got to our seats, the Bailiff announced,
"All rise for the Honorable Judge Willis!"
We stood up and the judge sat us down. It felt like I was in a church choir.
"Alright, let's get this show on the road. Mr. Stokley, what brings us here today?" The judge asked.
"Your Honor, we are here today to discuss the case about Roderick Humphrey's attempted murder towards Mr. Justin Garson, Mr. Christopher Johnson, Mr. Griveon Lancaster." He said.
"Thank you, Mr. Stokley. Mr. Beavers, what's your story?" the judge asked.
"Your Honor, my client, Roderick Humphrey, has pled guilty to his crime and is willing to take the plea deal." Mr. Beavers said.Judge Willis looked confused and so did Mr. Stokley. It's almost like they didn't see this coming at all.
"Mr. Beavers, what plea deal are you talking about?" Mr. Stokley asked.
"The plea deal consisted that my client would serve ten years and spend the rest of his time on house arrest for the remainder of his sentence." Mr. Beavers explained.
"Well that's absurd! There is no way I would agree to that!" Mr. Stokley laughed.
"This isn't a laughing matter! A man's life is at stake here!" Mr. Beavers snapped.
"Imagine that! A man's life is at stake just like my clients were that night when your client fired off three rounds in their direction. The first round hitting the back of their truck. The second round striking Mr. Lancaster in his stomach ripping through his side. The third round striking Mr. Johnson in his shoulder. Those actions put those men lives at stake." Mr. Stokley said to the room.
"You mentioned that Mr. Justin Garson aka Justice was one of your clients, am I correct?" Mr. Beavers asked.
"Yes, he is." Mr. Stokley agreed.
"How was he affected by what happened that night?" Mr. Beavers asked.
"Well, I don't know. Point a gun in my direction and shoot two people in front of me and you will possibly deal with PTSD and trauma." Mr. Stokley said.
