Arthit was confused at whom he should sympathise with after hearing the story. They had spent half of the day walking through hallways and checking on rooms from the main house and the extension.
Now walking through a room that had a large sliding door at the end which appeared to lead somewhere outside. Arthit thinks of any possible comment on his friend's story. Anything that he could say to break the forming dark cloud around them.
"Kong did say Khai was a player.. But I mean, from what you told me, he called things off with the girl before something happened between you two. Then, why are you mad at him?"
Third looked at him with sad eyes. He knew Arthit was right, but he was hurt.
"That's the point, if he really was serious about me then why did he not stop whatever he had with others immediately? Why do it the just before it happened? It appears like he had everything planned out, like he predicted that I was finally going to lower my walls, like he knew I was going to give in to him. That doesn't sound genuine at all."
At this point, Arthit had stopped walking, he looked at his friend, not able to say a word. He was supposed to retort at some point and say that probably Khai wasn't too sure about them at some point that's why he didn't end everything immediately. But when his bestfriend had continued his words, he realised that Third was also right.
"Don't you think I've already had enough players in my life? Do you really think they can just let go of their old life style just for something they're not even sure of? Do you really think that they won't ever get tired of you and ditch you just like what they did to the others?" Third added, turning his body around to look straight into the other.
Arthit remembered how back then his best friend had fallen for a man who promised him forever. Only to break his heart a few weeks after. Arthit couldn't bear to see his friend so broken. Though as much as he wanted to stay by his bestfriend's side when he was at his worst, he couldn't. As he himself was stuck inside his own hell. How he wished things were different for them. They deserved better.
The pale boy sighs.
"I'm sorry Third. But, getting hurt once shouldn't stop you from opening your heart again. And I still think Khai's feelings for you are genuine. Also, I've never seen you as happy as you were when we would video call with me the past days. The pictures of yourself that you sent me. You looked so happy and relaxed. Even just a while ago, before you talked about that girl who ruined your moment. When you talked about Khai, you seemed so enthusiastic and happy. I want to see you like that again Third. Please give it another try." Arthit tried consoling his friend. But the other just sighed loudly out of frustration. It appeared like he was trying to get rid of the bad thoughts inside his mind.
They continued walking towards the glass door.
"Let me think about it, please." Third pleaded, eyes filled with sadness. As much as he wanted to feel love, he also didn't want to risk himself getting hurt again. Hasn't he gone through enough?
Arthit stays silent for a while, thinking if what he was going to ask would be okay.
"Tell me Third, what do you think of him?" Arthit asks, opening the large sliding door that lead to the house's backyard. A giant pool on display with a cabin on the side. Some benches neatly arranged around a picnic area with big umbrellas. He pulled his friend to one of the benches and they sat under the shade. He looked at his friend who was still thinking of what he was going to answer to his question.
