"Sir Arthit?"
"Yes?"
"You can remove your blindfold now sir."
Arthit untied the silk cloth behind his head. He kept his eyes closed for a while and let them adjust to the brightness of the surrounding. He slowly fluttered them open and gasped at the beautiful setting.
The place was beautifully set up. String lights, flowers and other plants were all around the place.
"Sir" the maid called out, she smiled sweetly at the man who was still appreciating the view. Arthit looked towards her direction and saw the maid handing a card to him. He took it and replied thank you before putting his full attention to the object. He appreciated the beautifully and delicately designed card. It was engraved with golden leaves and flower wreaths, he opened the card and immediately recognized his lover's handwriting. He always loved Kongpob's handwriting. He remembered back in college how the other wrote letters for him because he thought they were romantic and special. It was cheesy, but Arthit loved every letter he received.
Arthit read the content.
It said:
'To the love of my life. Thank you for waiting for me all these years. I'm sorry if I couldn't come to you earlier. It took me quite some time to pick myself up when you went missing. I prayed every single day for you to come back. For us to meet again. And for us to be together again. And it did happen. I promise I will never ever ever let you go. I WILL fight for you even if it meant losing everything else. You are the most important thing to me.'
The letter stops there. He looked around only to find that he was alone again. Though the maid had left a huge card in front of him.
'FOLLOW THE PATH'
And with that, he stood up from his chair and started walking. When he went around a curb, he immediately saw another maid whom held yet another card. She handed it to him with a smile. Arthit said thank you before opening the new card.
'To the sun that gave me light. Arthit, do you remember how me, Khai, and Pete always got in trouble back in college? Our names were always next to the word trouble. But that was me before I met you that one significant night, in one of Pete's parties. I had a not so good reputation at that time, especially when we were still first years. I didn't talk much to people that time, unlike Khai and Pete who buzzed around like bees. They even gave me a nickname, the 'Cold Moon'. But then you came into my life and took my breath away. Though you did spill your drink on me that night. At least it made me lay my eyes at the most beautiful human being that set foot on Earth. I was ready to throw hands when you spilled your drink and ruined my shirt, but the moment I set my eyes on you, I was ready to throw myself. I wasn't even able to utter a word. I was speechless. When you realized you spilled your drink on me, you said sorry and left immediately. But I stood there, frozen, watching you leave the scene. I promised that night that I will make YOU mine, and I will be yours.'
Arthit wiped some tears off his cheek. He smiled and placed a kiss on the card. He looked around, only to find again that he was alone. Another big card was left in front of him.
'FOLLOW THE PATH' it said again. He held the two cards against his chest. When he turned to another curb, he found another maid with another card. He said thank you and opened the card again with excitement.
'To the warmth of my cold nights. Baby, you don't know how much you changed me. The night I met you was also the night I felt warmth for the first time. The way you looked into my eyes broke the barrier inside my heart. I immediately approached you the next day. I needed to know you. It's like you were a drug that I immediately became addicted to. Though you didn't know me that well, you let me walk into your life. Then slowly, I started to pursue you. Do you remember how I screamed so much when you finally agreed to BE mine? Baby, you gave me the love and comfort I never thought I needed. Our friends used to tease me when they found out that I was finally interested in someone. Telling me that someone finally melted the 'Cold Prince'. But it was true. You melted me so much I could turn into a puddle. I love you baby.'
Arthit looked up.
'FOLLOW THE PATH' the pale boy went on his way half-running. The sound of the ocean waves became more evident. When he went around another curb, rather than finding another maid, he found both of his friends waiting for him.
"Do you guys know anything about this?" he asked as Knot handed him the card.
"Maybe?" Toota said before laughing.
Arthit looked at the card and opened it.
'To MY past, present, and future. Though we weren't physically together for the last years, I knew that you were still in my heart. I could never love anyone else. It was always you whom I wanted. So I never gave up. I'm glad that you also didn't. I felt so happy when you entered that bar, but also so scared. I was afraid of what will happen if I approached you. So I waited till you place your eyes on me again. All those years I thought you disappeared because you never wanted to see me again. When you left, it broke me so much. I starved myself, I was drunk every night, I got myself into a lot of fights. But then Kao slapped me. Khai and Pete also did. They told me if you were there and saw my state, a slap wasn't the only thing I would get. They told me that doing that would only make you sad and hate me even more. They told me to suck it up. The pain was only temporary. Wounds will heal in the FUTURE. They told me that what if one day we meet again and you were successful? They told me that I should at least have a face to show you. So I studied and became a better person. And with that, and the help of our friends, I picked myself up. I made a name for myself. I made a plan for my future. But that plan had you in it. It will never be complete if I didn't have you. You will forever be a part of my life no matter what.'
Tears continuously flowed out of his eyes. Arthit sniffed and wiped off his tears. He looked up to see his friends holding a huge card.
'Please go back to the other cards and read the words in bold letters'
He immediately opened the each of the cards and scanned.
1st - WILL
2nd - YOU
3rd - BE
4th - MY FUTURE
More tears left his eyes, he scanned around the place. He found himself alone again. A huge card in front of him.'FOLLOW THE PATH'
Arthit ran and went around the curb. He found himself at the shore. The place was magnificent. The beautiful ocean waters reflected the orange and red beams that came from the setting sun. The sound of the waves calmly splashing on the shore. The string lights and flowers around the place.
Arthit sighted a card placed on a small stand. He walked towards it and opened the card.
'Turn around' the card said. Arthit held his breath for a while and exhaled. He's been crying non-stop. He wiped his tears before turning around, only to find the man if his dreams on bended knee with a ring on his hand. Arthit couldn't help himself and started crying again.
"Baby I want to spend my whole life with you. You are everything to me. I can never imagine my life without you. Will you marry me?"
Arthit aggressively nodded his head.
"Yes! Yes! I will marry you!" Kongpob stood up and took Arthit's hand. He slid the ring on the delicate finger. Arthit kissed his fiancé passionately. A kiss filled with so much love. Both men heard people clapping and cheering for them. Their two friends and the workers were there to witness the beautiful scene. Every one congratulated the couple and went on to eat dinner. It was already dark when they finished so they headed straight to the airport.
Everyone was tired so they decided to sleep.
The couple went inside their cabin inside the jet while Knot and Toota stayed in their seats. Saying that they were more comfortable there than inside the cabins.
Arthit closed the door and locked it. Kongpob heard it click so he looked at his fiancé with a questioning look, an eyebrow raised.
"You still owe me Fifty Shades of Kongpob, mister." Arthit said as he took out the same silk cloth that was blindfolded on him earlier from his pocket.
Kongpob chuckled and connected his mouth with the other's. Grazing his tongue on the other's lips before letting go.
"Let daddy put that on for you baby."
