"How were you able to come?" I asked him, still in shock that he's right in front of me.
I walked back into my house as he followed.
"Well we left Dallas this morning and I flew here while everyone else flew to Boston," He told me.
"Well how long can you stay?" I asked, bracing myself.
Ross sighed, "Well that's the thing, my flight back Boston is at midnight tonight because I have to be back there by tomorrow."
I walked over to him, grabbing his jacket and whispered, "Damn, I was looking forward to spending the night with you."
He smirked down at me.
"Sorry babe, looks like you'll have to wait a little longer," He told me as he kissed my lips.
I let out a little giggle and he continued, "I did pick something up for you though."
I looked at him, confused, as he pulled out a plastic container from his pocket.
Inside was the most beautiful corsage I had ever seen. It had red and white flowers with gold beading.
"Oh my gosh, Ross you didn't have to do that," I said as my hands covered my mouth.
"Couldn't let you go in there without letting people know you're taken," He smirked as he took the corsage out of the box.
I held out my hand and he slipped it on to my wrist.
"It's so beautiful," I told him, gazing into his eyes.
"Only the best for my girl," He told me as he kissed the top of my head.
I took him by the hand and I led him into the living room.
"Mom! Look who's here!" I shouted.
"Is he here already?" I heard her yell back.
I looked up at Ross, "She knew?"
"Both your parents do, and so does Ana." He laughed.
My mom and dad walked over to us.
"Nice to see you again Ross," my dad said as he reached to shake his hand.
"You too sir," Ross responded, firmly shaking his hand.
"This was so nice of you to come," My mom said as she went to give Ross a hug.
"Oh," Ross said softly, reacting to my mom's gesture, "I'm just glad it all worked out."
My mom continued, "Well let's take a few pictures of you two and then you guys can head out."
Ross and I walked over to the fireplace and he put his arm around me.
My parents snapped pictures of us in different poses, but finally I told them I think that they had he enough.
"I'll text Ana and tell her that we're ready." I said eagerly.
Ross laughed, "Babe I told you Ana was in on it the whole time, we're not going with her."
I shot him a confused look, "Then how are we getting there?"
My dad tossed Ross his keys and said, "If there's a single scratch on her, I'll kill you."
I laughed, knowing my dad is just trying to make a joke, but Ross took it to heart.
Ross laughed with hesitation and we thanked my dad.
My mom came over to us and hugged us both, "Have fun you two!"
"We will," I told her.
I put on my peacoat and Ross and I headed out to my dad's car.
We hopped in and we headed over to my school.
It was so cute trying to navigate Ross around my town. The entire atmosphere is something he just isn't used to. We actually have to drive past farms to get there and he thought that was hilarious. I didn't really get why.
"I'm nervous," Ross said as we were driving down a long country road.
"And why is that?" I asked while reapplying my lipstick in the mirror.
"Because I just want this night to be nice for us. We kinda deserve it after the few weeks we've had. And I've never actually been to like a high school dance."
I rolled the tube of lipstick back down and flipped the mirror back up.
"They're honestly nothing like on TV. They're awkward and sweaty, to describe it bluntly." I told him.
We laughed as Ross smirked, "You better be able to keep up with me, you know I got the moves."
I nudged his arm and we laughed again.
"You're so cocky," I told him, "the real challenge is if you're going to be able to keep up with me."
He looked over at me surprised as I continued, "I mean you're used to dancing all by yourself in little cookie cutter routines. Have you ever grinded with a girl?"
Ross looked away, smirking, knowing I was right.
"Exactly, I've been to these before. I know how to grind with a guy," I said confidently.
"I guess we'll see," He said as we pulled into the school parking lot.
He parked the car and helped me out of the passenger side.
We walked into the school holding hands. And so far, no one was looking at us.
Until we reached the gym, where the dance was located. The music was blaring and you could feel the bass running through your body. The lights were off as the colored lights and strobe lights blinked on an off.
Soon enough, there were little groups looking, whispering, and pointing.
We both felt so awkward. We didn't really know what to do, since Ross hasn't been to a dance and I'm just an awkward person in general.
I squeezed his hand to let him know that I was about to talk.
He looked down at me and I yelled to him, "Why don't we go find Ana and her date?"
He nodded and yelled back, "Good idea."
So then, as people watched us, we confidently walked into the crowd of sweaty teenagers to try to find Ana.
