Eva's POV
I can't sleep.
My new mark is burning like hell.
And everything that just happened today... I'm not sure if I can handle it. I shifted for the first time today, I found my mate, I also threatened the alpha's son.
I'm not sure what's gonna happen next. Katherine doesn't know this but it's not safe here anymore.
I know what this pack is capable of. And I know Alpha John will do anything and everything for power. Even killing the Goddess herself.
I got out of bed, put on my shirt, and left my room. The whole house is silent. Everyone is asleep.
I went to the back door of the house and left the house.
The air is cold outside. I can feel my wolf begging me to go to the woods. I started walking and I noticed how much my senses have gotten better. I was deep into the woods but I can still hear and smell people in the pack house sleeping. And my sight is perfect even if it's dark.
My wolf and I were enjoying being out in the woods until we heard footsteps close behind us. I smiled because I already knew who it was.
"It's dangerous to be alone in the woods, especially at night. You know that little one, right?" She said.
"I know. But it's even more dangerous for the Goddess to walk alone in those woods." I said smiling then turned around to face her. She smiled at that then looked me at the eyes.
"Well it's a good thing then that my mate is here with me to protect me."
Mate... I'm her mate...
It feels like a dream. Yesterday I was nothing, nobody. Just a scared little mutt who doesn't belong anywhere.Who doesn't deserve to live. And all of the sudden I'm the Goddess mate. How is that possible?
But I know it's true because I can feel it. I can feel the connection between us. And I can feel my wolf fighting me to take control and mark his mate.
She came closer to me and took my hand in hers. It was hard not to pull my hand back when I felt electricity from her touch.
"What's wrong little one?"
I can see it in her eyes that she's concerned about me. But I don't know what to tell her. Everything should be fine. Everything should be perfect. I finally shifted. I can finally feel how strong my wolf is. I even found my mate for god's sake. So what the hell is wrong with me. Why the hell am I not happy.
We are happy. But we are also worried. I can feel the danger. We are not safe here. Our mate is not safe here.

I look at Katherine and gave her a small smile. I took both of her hands and brought her closer to me.
"Sorry. I just... My wolf spoke to me for the first time. Katherine, we are not safe here. This place. This pack. They're dangerous. My wolf and I both can feel it. We need to get out of here. Like right now."
"Darling, do not worry about that. We are safe. I will keep you safe. I won't let anything happen to you."
She doesn't understand. Not even she can keep us safe from this pack. They are ruthless.
"I'm not worried about me. I'm worried about you. About us. You don't know what they're capable of. They will stop at nothing until they get what they want."
I saw her body shift and her face become serious. She finally understood what I'm talking about but I can see she doesn't want to admit it.
"And what do you think they want Eva?" She asked hesitating.
"Power." I looked her in the eyes. My wolf ready for a war.
"They want power Katherine."
