the end of camp was coming to an end. everyone was happy, we won the titan war- blah blah blah i don't care right now. i still need to make a move on annabeth.

now, laugh at me all you want, but i am seriously stressing here! plus, even though annabeth is the most well know camper because she has been here since she was very little, i swear she got more popular with the boys after the war.

technically, i already made a move on her. (yeah best underwater kiss of all time) but she just went back to acting normal!

like, the next morning she came up to me after breakfast and i was expecting some kind of little kiss because somehow i got it into my head we wee now a couple. but no, i got it alllll wrong. she just smacked me across the back and said, "race you up the rock climbing wall. lets see that butt of yours get eaten by lava."

what does that even mean?

all day i was the most confused. i tried thinking if i should ask someone for advice but i didn't know who. time was running out.

grover? busy somewhere deep in the forest with his girlfriend. singing to pan or something.

chiron? not with the times.

mom? maybe...

thalia? she would laugh in my face!

paul? wait, i was onto something.

"chiron? chiron!" i ran into the big house. "i need to use our emergency phone!"

"what happened? is everything okay, percy?"

"uh yeah. i just need to call my mom." i shrugged.

"for what?" he pressed.

"just let me use it, please." i pleaded. "just this once."

he sighed and handed me the phone. "you know what to do, mortal boy."

i rolled my eyes and dialed in her number. i didn't even know what i was going to say. 'hey mom i kissed annabeth but now shes treating me like a brother. advice?' like, how dumb does that sound!?

"hello?" a voice said on the other line.

"mom? it's percy." i was sweating. and i don't know why.

"hey percy! is everything okay?" i could basically hear her smile over the phone.

"uhm, yep! do you have a second?" gods, the butterflies in my stomach were attacking me more than any monster has before.

"what's up?" she said.

i hesitated. what do i say what do i say what do i say. my brain screamed.

"percy?" she asked again. it sounded like she was sitting down. "are you alright?"

"yes, yes i'm okay. it's just- so basically- ugh! i don't know what to say!" i blurted. "this is stupid."

"you can tell me anything you know." mom said. "how about you say one word, and i'll try to guess. how does that sound?"

"oh you are so smart, okay uh," i thought of one instantly. i tried to change it but something in me just couldn't. "annabeth."

mom didn't speak right away. "ohhhh i see. girl problems."

"mom! don't laugh. i should have asked someone else." i huffed.

"no no, percy i'm not laughing!"

she was most definitely laughing.

"okay bye mom, thanks for the help!"

"percy, stop. i'll put you on the phone with paul."

"okay. wait- what?"
