annabeth hadn't seen percy in fifteen days and counting.

it was nearing the end of first term of senior year, and with college apps and exams coming up, both of them had been more distant than ever.

not only was annabeth stressed, she missed percy. but she was also mad at him. annabeth had tried to plan so many dates, but every time, percy just shot it down, called last minute that he got busy with work, or didn't show up.

they had talked on the phone and texted nearly everyday, but it just wasn't the same. they weren't used to 'long distance'.

the couple had only been dating for a few months now, but in those 4 months they had seen each other nearly everyday. annabeth supposed it was time they had their first falling out.

tonight there was a date planned. just an ice skating one, but annabeth already knew what would happen.

she bundled up with a scarf, hat, many layers, leggings, a jacket, and grabbed her bag that had her skates and such, and headed out her door.

she thought to call percy so he could remember, but to be honest, she was curious to see if he would show. he hadn't cancelled, and they haven't talked all day except for good mornings, but annabeth was itching for a fight. there was so much she needed to tell him.

she caught the bus and walked down the aisle toward the back, sitting down she sighed. he wasn't going to show.

"shit." percy cursed. he basically flew out of his bed to check the time.

7:36pm.

he cursed again. percy was supposed to be at the rink at seven. he threw on clothes and ran to the storage closet and found his ice skates. he yelled a goodbye to his mom before throwing himself out into the snowy, cold New York weather.

he looked up and down the street deciding on what to do. should he call her? he thought. or take a bus, maybe run?

he opted for running.

the rink was only fifteen minutes walk away, so if he imagined he was getting chased by a god or something, perhaps he could make it in six.

he twisted through the streets and jay walked more time than he normally would. percy slipped on ice only once, but he swore it almost cost him his life.

arriving at the rink, it was packed. he pulled out his phone.

7:45.

he dialed annabeth's number. she picked up on the third ring, and said nothing.

"annie," percy panted. "where are you- i'm so sorry. i'm here now, which part are you at?"

"i'm near the Christmas tree. figure it out."

and she hung up.

percy pushed people by, and got to the massive tree. she looked around and spotted annabeth sitting on a bench.

"annie," he said running to her and sitting beside her. "i'm so sorry i-"

"you what? what's the excuse this time?" she rolled her eyes.

percy's heart fell. he fucked up and he knew it. he got away with being a terrible boyfriend for way too long. "you're mad?"

that wasn't the right thing to say. percy winced right as the words tumbled out of his mouth.

"of course i'm mad! i'm so fucking mad right now." annabeth whisper-yelled.

"look, i'm sorry. i was doing-"
