Chapter 20

"This is Aurora King. She'll be helping us with the Angela king investigation."

I gulped as they all took off the masks. As I analyzed everyone faces I spotted two familiar faces, Jayden and Jordyn.

Ryder cleared his throat as he walked front to the table in the middle of the room and turned to look at me.

"Your uh Dad called the cops that morning from a phone booth."

Anger slowly burned inside me as those words came out of His mouth.

He analyzed my face "Follow me."

I nodded as we both walked out the room into the room next door. There was a 3 monitors sitting on a brown desk along with a bunch of files.

He typed into the computer then signaled me to come in.

He sighed as he pressed play to a voice recording I looked at him for a moment and then back at the monitor.

*Recorded call* - Michael Brown (Aurora's Dad) & Mark Evan's (Chief of police)

"911 what's your emergency?"

"Hey This is Michael brown. Is chief of police Mark Evan's there by any chance?"

"Uh yes he is, do you want me to put him on the line?"

"Yes, thank you"

*Beep*

"Hey Michael! How are ya?"

"I'm doing swell. How about yourself?"

"I'm doing good. So what's up you back in town?"

"Yeah, yeah I wanted to call and ask for a little favor."

"Go for it."

"So you see my ex wife Angela has $55,000 in her bank account and I'm in need of that kinda cash."

"Ah yes I got your back."

"Thank you so much. So I left a bottle of xanax in a brown vase in her house can you and the boys rade the house and get rid of her. I don't care how you do I just need the will money."

"Yes of course."

"Ok thank you so much bud."

"Alright we can catch up later."

"For sure at Benny's."

"Haha alright bye"

"Bye."

*Recorded phone call ends*

My blood boiled, My dad was here for the money all along. He didn't want anything to do with us.

Ryder scoffed and turned to look at me

I clenched my jaw and and turned to look at back at him.

"I want him behind bars."

Ryder nodded "Do you know who Benny are where Benny is?"

I thought for a moment then I remembered

"Benny's is a bar that one of my Dads friends owns in Lakeland hills. His house is behind the bar.

Ryder gulped

"Your Dad could be staying there."

Ryder quickly went out into the hallway into a different room, I followed.

"Hey miles, can you listen to the calls between May 16th and Today June 8th from Benny's bar in Lakeland hills, Auburn?"

"Got it Ace."
