Just outside the doorway, we found Blaise slumped over with an empty bottle of firewhisky in his hand. Flint was passed out beside him. I was rather surprised that neither of them had thrown up yet. With a cup of water in hand, Luna stepped forward to tend to the both of them.

The music that had been pounding in my ears all night suddenly broke off once we exited the party. I could barely hear the faint thumping of the bass. It was nice to know that the silencing charm had been effective for the sake of all the students in attendance. It took a moment for my ears to stop ringing and adjust to the silence in the hall.

Crabbe and Goyle were standing a few steps away, leaning against the wall.

"Ay, Zabini!" Goyle shouted. "Y/L/N is here!"

Blaise sat up at the resounding echo of Goyle's voice. His eyes were bloodshot and he looked terrible, but he smiled when he saw me. Though he'd managed to sit up, he was still swaying from side to side, resting on Flint for support.

"He hasn't stopped calling for you," Pansy jibed under her breath.

I hadn't seen her standing amongst us. She was hidden by Crabbe and Goyle; her petite frame peaked out from between their towering statures. I noticed she hadn't chosen any of the outfits she'd laid out on her bed back in the dorms. Instead, she decided upon a dark purple dress that was actually quite flattering on her physique. I might've considered complimenting her appearance tonight out of politeness if it were't for her notably incessant hatred for me. Her eyes flickered down to my hand, and I realized I was still holding onto Draco.

I quickly withdrew my hand from Draco's and hoped to Merlin no one else had seen us, though they probably already had. My eyes flickered back at Draco for a second and I caught his expression falter ever so slightly as I slipped my hand away. But by the time I had started towards Blaise, Draco's once saddened expression defaulted to its usual look of displeasure.

"Oh, Blaise," I laughed, kneeling down beside him. "Whatever are we going to do with you."

He looked up at me, eyes squinting as he smiled and slurred his words, "Y/L/N! Did you have fun tonight?" Even in his state of drunkenness, he was worried if I'd had fun.

"Oh, I think I she did," Luna giggled next to me. I looked at her cautiously.

I wasn't quite sure how to answer that question myself. Blaise could always tell when I was lying, and it was bloody annoying that he could. In short, yes, I did have fun. Of course, I had fun. I'd felt myself unwind completely tonight, in ways I hadn't done so before. It was exhilarating to be in such a state of euphoria, to let myself go for one night.

But on the other hand, it was complicated. Yes, I had fun, but it was with Draco, someone I'd never pictured myself having fun with since the day I'd met him. And, despite their ritualized banter, he was still one of Blaise's closest and oldest friends. I couldn't bring myself to tell Blaise — not tonight at least. He'd probably think I was absolutely demented for snogging Draco. I started to feel flustered just thinking about it.

"Um, yeah, of course," I answered, looking at Luna for a moment. I hoped she'd do me a solid and keep her mouth shut for the time being. "Let's get you back up to the common room, shall we? Someone wake up Flint too."

Luna and I tried our best to help Blaise up from where he'd been sitting, but the weight of his body nearly knocked us over. I pleadingly looked over in Crabbe and Goyle's direction, hoping they would help us out. Begrudgingly, they trudged over and took our places, then we all started back up the stairs toward the common room.

I walked arm in arm with Luna the rest of the way, too embarrassed to look back at Draco. He and Pansy were a couple of steps behind us, but I didn't hear a word out of either of them the entire time we were walking.

Luna had tried to ask me about tonight's affairs, but I promised her I'd tell her another time, seeing as Draco was still in earshot of our conversations. Even though students were still trickling out of the basement and heading back to their respective rooms, the hallways were completely quiet — that is, except for the occasional groans and moans from Blaise and Flint, as well as the shuffling of our footsteps.

When it was time to part ways with Luna, everyone else continued walking toward the Slytherin common room while I stood in the forked hallway with her to say goodnight. I promised her again that I'd fill her in on the details another day. "You'd better," she teased, before hugging me and skipping off into the opposite direction. I watched as her silhouette disappeared into the distance and recollected myself for a moment.

Though perhaps I would've divulged in tonight's escapades with Luna any other night, I didn't feel like doing so at the moment. If it'd been with anyone else, if it hadn't had been with Draco, I wouldn't have minded sharing my dirty little secrets. But it had been with Draco, of all people.

Had this been a mistake? A drunken one-night stand? Surely, I was allowed to have just one night of regret in my youth. Maybe I just needed some sleep to cleanse myself of the person I'd been tonight. I tried my best to justify the course of my actions, but my rationale was of no avail. Thwarted, I took a breath to relax myself and started walking back toward the others.
