Through the darkness, Malfoy steered us toward the back corner of the wall furthest from the entranceway. His hand kept a firm grip on mine. At this point in the night, I wasn't sure how long I'd been down at the party, but the basement was still swarming with students. I was still mildly inebriated from all the liquor I'd consumed earlier in the night; I could still feel the lingering warmth of firewhisky in my stomach. There was no time for me to think clearly or logically, even if I wanted to. Perhaps I'd wake up tomorrow morning regretting tonight's decisions, but everything about Malfoy was so inviting — how could I deny myself of him?

The multicolored lights flickered around us, allowing me to catch glimpses of his face whenever he looked back at me. I could see his silver eyes as they peered into mine.

There were a handful of other couples in the corner Malfoy had led us to. This wasn't exactly what I had in mind when he'd said he wanted us to have some privacy. Before I could say anything, he spun me around so that my back was up against the wall.

"I can't wait," he snarled with his hands tightened around my waist. I was beginning to see Malfoy's assertiveness in a new light. He seized a kiss from me, and it was just as intoxicating as it'd been the first time. I felt his tongue briefly press against my lips before it was inside my mouth. The exchange of our breaths felt so unusually natural, and the soft moans that escaped from his lips only beckoned me closer to him. With my fingers in his hair, and against my better judgement, all I could think about was wanting more of him. This seemed to be a recurring thought of mine.

His left hand found its way up into my hair, and he tugged my ponytail backward. I tilted my head up in response to his fervent touch. I felt his fingers trace down to my collarbone, as he tenderly sunk his teeth into my neck. I gasped for breath, and I could sense his contentment with the reaction he'd elicited from me. He grazed his lips up to my jaw while his fingers gently wrapped around my neck. The cold, familiar touch of his rings countered the heat radiating between our bodies. All the while, his right hand stayed firmly planted on my stomach, keeping me in place. His touch had been so irresistible and so mesmerizing that I'd almost forgotten where we were.

"Malfoy," I mumbled in-between kisses. "There are people around. Maybe we should..."

"Draco," he interrupted with a smile. "I think we're on a first-name basis now, wouldn't you agree, Y/N?" He licked a thin line upon my lips.

The sweet sound of my name escaping his lips left me weak in the knees. It was as if the past four years of our sporadic, one-worded interactions had built up to this, as if the memory of our strange exchange up in the Astronomy Tower had been erased. I'd be lying if I said I'd never thought of him in this way before, but the probability of this happening had been slim to none — or so I thought. He was still a spoiled and pretentious git.

How did we get from there to here? How wasted was I?

"There are people around, Draco. Didn't you say you wanted some privacy?"

"Mmm, yes, you're right," he purred with his lips still pressed onto mine. "Now where should we go?"

But before I could answer, a figure ran towards us.

"Y/N! I've been looking for you everywhere!"

Much to my dismay, I turned to see Luna staring straight at me, then at Draco. Her eyes were widened from bewilderment, while mine were widened from embarrassment. Bloody hell, I thought myself. Completely mortified by the fact that my antics had been unveiled, I quickly tried to push Draco off of me, which earned me an indignant expression from him. I stumbled to the side and hastily smoothed out my dress. My cheeks flushed crimson red at the thought of tonight's escapades; I immediately sobered up. How could I have been so foolish to think that no one would see me with Draco?

"Oh, hey, Luna!" I could see her eyes darting back and forth between me and Draco. I stepped into her line of sight in a failed attempt to distract her. It was obvious it wasn't working, so I grabbed her arm and stepped closer to her. "Um, where've you been?"

"Well, I could ask you the same thing," she grinned, as her eyes shifted to look at Draco for a second. "Quite interesting, this is."

"You said you were looking for me?" I blurted in an effort to change the subject. "Did something happen?"

"Oh, yes, right! Blaise is looking for you  — well, actually, he's calling for you. He's just outside in the hallway, but we're having trouble getting him back up to the dorms. He's absolutely knackered. I think he managed to finish four bottles of firewhisky on his own."

I could hear Draco let out an unamused scoff behind me. His reaction caused Luna's eyes to flicker in his direction again.

"Right, I'll go with you," I replied, not bothering to look back at Draco. I linked arms with Luna and started towards the door, but I suddenly felt him grab my wrist, forcing me to face him. He shot a glare at Luna, as if to tell her to stay back, before shifting his eyes back at me.

"Where do you think you're going? I'm sure Zabini can take care of himself."

"Let go, Draco," I demanded, trying to free myself from his grasp, but he only tightened his hold on me.

He leaned toward me so that his lips just barely grazed my left ear and whispered, "We're not done here."

For a moment, the lingering echo of his words sent goosebumps down my neck again, as they'd done so before, and, for a moment, I considered staying with him. But I quickly snapped back to reality when I caught a glimpse of Luna's figure a few feet away, still waiting for me.

"He's asking for me, Draco. I just want to make sure he's alright," I reasoned. "I'm sure he wouldn't mind seeing you too. Just come along."

Without thinking, I grabbed his hand and started walking. Once I got to Luna, I nodded to her and we made our way to the exit.

I could hear Draco swearing to himself. When I turned back, I saw the look of contempt on his face that I'd grown accustomed to all these years and gave him a smirk. He rolled his eyes, but his fingers remained interlocked with mine.

I'm not exactly sure what had possessed me to drag him along with us. Normally, I wouldn't have even bothered inviting him to accompany me in the first place. If I'm being completely honest, I wouldn't have had the courage to do so. Maybe I wasn't completely sober yet and there was still a bit of firewhisky coursing through my veins. Maybe I wasn't in my right state of mind and I'd regret all of this tomorrow. But there was a part of me that didn't want to leave him just yet.

In that moment, all I knew was that I didn't feel the same way about Draco as I did before.
