Chapter 2- Day 1

Kenzie's POV

The pyramid began:

"On the bottom, Mackenzie. Your feet were sloppy and you fell out of the turn sequence! Where were your facial expressions?! Maddie could've done that solo."

I wiped a tear from my face. She always was mean to me, but never Maddie.

"and on the top, Maddie! You were our first place soloist and you were amazing on stage."

The finished pyramid was like this:

"Mackenzie, I am going to give a solo this week to redeem yourself. It is called "Out of My Mind. Maddie, you'll also have a solo called, Reflections. My last solo will go to Kendall. Your solo is called Victorious. The group routine is called Hollywood Stars."

After assignments, we started stretching. I did my front splits and did my over splits. Maddie was doing hers too. I did a front aerial to warm up. I was glad Abby wasn't watching it or she might have yelled out a bunch of critiques. Abby's eyes were watching Maddie like always.

After stretching and warming up, I returned to the Dancers Den. I looked at the schedule for today:

2:30-3:00- Warm up/stretching

3:00-5:00- Maddie solo rehearsal- Studio A

3:00-4:30- Kendall solo rehearsal- Studio B

5:00-6:30- Group rehearsal- Studio A

6:30-7:15- Dinner/break

7:15-8:00- Mackenzie solo rehearsal- Studio B

7:30-8:30- Kendall solo rehearsal- Studio A

8:30-10:00- Group rehearsal- Studio A

Of course, Maddie had more rehearsal time than me. She had 2 whole hours while I only got 45 minutes! Also her rehearsal was in Studio A with Abby and I only got the smaller studio, Studio B with Gianna. Maddie was in Studio A learning her solo with Abby while Kendall was learning her solo in Studio B with Gianna. Both Maddie and Kendall had more rehearsal time than I did.

At 7:45, Abby cut my solo rehearsal to do a turns class. I was so mad, which meant now I only had 30 minutes to learn the dance. I walked into Studio A for the turns class. Abby told us to do a turn combo of 5 a la secondes, 3 pirouettes, 4 coupes, 4 more a la secondes, and 2 fouettes. I started doing the turns along with the others, 1-2-3-4-5 a la secondes, 1-2-3, 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4, 1-1 1/4-1 1/2. I fell out of the 2 fouettes and only ended up doing 1 1/2 while the other girls finished nicely. Abby started yelling at me, "Mackenzie! You only did 1 1/2 fouettes! Why did you fall out of them?!" I just ignored her. She always yelled at me for turning because I wasn't as good in turning. The short turns class ended at 8:15 and Kendall returned to her rehearsal. But I couldn't so all I had was a stupid 30 minutes, instead of 45 minutes, instead of an hour like Kendall, instead of 2 hours like Maddie.

The group rehearsal started 15 minutes later. Abby yelled at me for having sloppy feet but she didn't yell at Maddie, because Maddie's "perfect". When at last 10:00 came, Abby let us go home.

I grabbed my dance bag and Maddie grabbed hers which was huge. My dance bag was only medium sized. As we drove home, I looked through my dance bag. It had my ballet shoes, 2 pairs of jazz shoes; 1 black 1 tan, a pair of tap shoes, turners, extra dancewear, my ALDC jacket, my water bottle, and my hair things. My mom stopped the car in our garage and I stepped out, put my dance bag away, and went upstairs. I showered in my bathroom and changed into pajamas. I decided to get out my dance wear for tomorrow since, it was a full day and we had dance from 8:30-10:00. I got out a black and red ALDC crop top and matching red and black shorts. Then I went into my bed and fell asleep, wishing luck for the following day.
