Chapter 3: Finding My Mate

Xavier POV

How can she know what mates are if she isn't human? She may have werewolf friends. Cuz if you haven't noticed, her friends are werewolves. Or she could be something other than a werewolf. Blaze said. But she would have smelled like a vampire or something else. I told him. He just shrugged in my head.

"Hello Xavier. Nice to meet you." Kate greeted. My wolf was purring when she said my name. She said it so nicely.

"Hi Kate. It's nice to meet you too." I responded. She just nodded, hugged her brother, and walked over to the other people. I just stared after her. Ryder started laughing.

"Man. You hardly know her and you're head over heels in love with her." He said while chuckling. I was confused. I thought they were human. "We are not human if that's what you're wondering. We just met a few hours ago so I'm not going to tell you what we are. I also think Kate should be the one to tell you. She is your mate after all." I just looked at him bewildered. I hope that isn't what he says to everyone he meets. Or else they are gonna get experimented on a lot.

"How did you know we were mates?" I asked him. Maybe he is a mind reader. Like that Edward Cullen dude from Twilight. Eew. I hate that movie. My sister forced me to watch it in the theatre.

"I just do. That's exactly the way my parents looked at each other." he said. There was sadness in his eyes. Something must have happened to them. I just nodded and looked back at my mate. She lying on her back sun tanning. I hope she doesn't get a sunburn. The other people were talking to her.

"Come on. I'll introduce you to everyone." Ryder said. I followed him to the dock.

"Hey everyone. This is Ryder. Ryder, this is Kayla," he gestured to a girl with straight brown hair and brown eyes. I think if you look closely enough, you can see red flecks. "this is Abby," he gestured to a girl who had a guy's arm wrapped around her shoulders. She was blonde and had blue eyes. "And this is Mathew. He and Abby are dating." he said. I looked at Mathew. He was muscular and he had dark brown hair and brown eyes. Blaze was right. They are all werewolves. But they are t part of my pack. And there's no other pack that stays here. Maybe they are just lone wolves. Rogues. Not all rogues are bad though.Ryder sat down next to Kate. I sat down next to Kayla.

"It's nice to meet you dude." Kayla said. She was smiling widely and she had a mischievous glint in her eyes. "You can be the guy that Kate marries. Her last boyfriend didn't end so well. He went home with a broken arm." I looked at Kate. She was leaning against Ryder. She better not have a boyfriend. She's only mine.

"He wasn't even my boyfriend. He just assaulted me." she defended. I chuckled. She glared at me. I smirked back at her. She rolled her eyes. My fiesta little mate.

"Then why were you kissing him?" Kayla asked with an accusing hint to her voice. I tensed. She kissed a guy. I guess I can't really be too mad because I've kissed girls before.

"I was drunk ok Kayla. I didn't even know half the stuff I was doing." Kate said. I relaxed. At least she wasn't in the right state of mind.

"Wait. When were you drunk and why were you drunk. You are under age and you know you aren't supposed to be drinking." Ryder interrupted. I looked at him. He had anger in his eyes. Kate looked at him and saw his look. Someone's in trouble.

"It was the day after my eighteenth birthday. And technically, Kayla forced me to drink." Kate said. Ryder turned his glare to Kayla. Kayla gulped visibly. Wow. Kate just threw her friend under the bus.

"Me and Kate are going to go to the cabin and finish our project." Kayla said in a rush. She quickly grabbed Kate's arm and dragged her away. Kate was just laughing.
