Kate

"We need to talk," I calmly said to Xavier. A worried look passed over his face.

"What about?" he asked. I took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself for this talk.

"I hope you know that if we have a war, I will be fighting in it too. This was with Jason might be happening because of me and as Luna as your pack, I must help defend the pack," I demanded. Xavier immediately shook his head.

"No way," he insisted. "I will not have you in danger. You will be in the safe house with the other females. You can't get hurt. Not as long as I'm alive and even when I'm dead, I'll be watching over you." I let out a frustrated sigh.

"Look Xavier, I love you, but I am fighting. And you are not going to stop me. I need to protect this pack as Luna and besides, do you think I want you to get hurt?" I nearly shouted.

"That's totally different. I'm alpha of this pack. I'm a leader. I need to protect my pack from all the threats," Xavier said, near a shouting level too.

"Well, I'm a leader too. I thought a Luna was the alpha's equal? And I thought it was our pack. But I guess it's alright. Maybe I'll leave so you can protect your pack," I shouted. I stomped out of the room, slamming the door harshly behind me. I heard Xavier calling out to me from behind but I didn't care. I was mad. Actually, I wasn't mad. I was furious. How dare he say this was only his pack. Well, I'll make it only his pack. I stomped all the way out of the house to my house. I walked into my room, slamming the room. A picture frame toppled over from my bedside table. I walked to it and carefully grabbed it. There was a crack in the plastic, making it look like the picture was split in half. It was a picture of Ryder and I. Our parents were behind us, smiling happily. This was taken the day before they died. We were at a picnic, a family picnic. We were so happy. Sadly, the crack went through the picture, separating my parents from Ryder and I. I let out a small humorless laugh. I guess even the picture knew that they were no longer with us. Hot tears trailed down my cheeks, making a wet spot on the carpet. I placed the picture face down back onto the nightstand and jumped into bed. Tears were still streaming down my face, making my pillow wet. I curled up into a little ball, letting all of my pent up emotions go. My anger, my sadness, my confusion. I didn't even know half of the things that happened in my life. My parents guided me through everything and I have to admit, I need their help now. I don't know what to do. My mom would have helped me through it while my dad would have tried to beat the person up. A small, sad smile played on my lips. I quickly shifted into my kitten form and walked to my parents room. Everything was left the same. The clothes my mom had set on the bed for the next day. My dad's socks which were strewn all over the bedroom floor. My mom was always shouting at my dad to pick them up. I quickly jumped onto the bed and curled into a little ball. The familiar scent brought me comfort. I knew soon though, the scent will be long gone. I rested my head on my tiny paws and closed my eyes, falling asleep with the quiet sound of rain falling outside.

Xavier

"Well, I'm a leader too. I thought a Luna was the alpha's equal? And I thought it was our pack. But I guess it's alright. Maybe I'll leave so you can protect your pack," she shouted, storming out of the room. The door slammed with a loud bang and I quickly rushed out, trying to call Kate back, but it seemed like she ignored my calls. I went back inside my room and fell on my bed, head in hands. I messed up. I shouldn't have said it was only my pack because it's hers too. I decided to give her an hour.

~hour later ~

It's been an hour. I gave her enough space. Now I just need to know where she went. I walked downstairs into the kitchen. Ryder was there making a sandwich. All of the ingredients were out like mayo, lettuce, and stuff.

"Where's your sister?" I asked him. He looked at me and narrowed his eyes.

"How should I know? Did you do something to make her leave? I swear if you did, you'll regret it," he threatened. I raised my arms in surrender.

"Chill bro. We just had an argument. She wanted to fight in the war and I told her no because I want her safe. Then I said some regrettable things and she stormed out," I explained. Before I could see it Ryder's fist connected with my cheek. My face flew sideways, knocked from the punch.

"Why the fuck didn't you go after her? What if she got lost in the woods?" He asked. I shrugged, holding my sore cheek. That's gotta leave a bruise.

"Anyways, she might be in our house. If she's mad the door is probably unlocked. You might want to lock it before someone barges in. If she isn't and she's lost, you better find her or so help me," he said. I nodded in thanks, quickly rushing next door. I twisted the doorknob and it was open. I quickly ran in, locking the door. I went to the room where Kate's scent was the strongest. I popped my head in. It was empty. It seemed like Kate's room though. There was another room across that had a slight opened door. I quietly crept in. Kate was sleeping in her kitten form in the middle of the bed. This seemed to be her parents room. I gently cradled Kate in my arms where she snuggled closer to me. I gently pet her head, making sure she was alright. I walked back to her room and climbed into her bed. I placed Kate on my chest, grabbed the soft covers and making sure we were warm. Kate snuggled even more into my chest. I rested a hand on her back, making sure it wasn't too heavy that it would crush her. I closed my eyes and fell into oblivion.
